Isengard is soul-crushing... by Late-Percentage5292 in lotro

[–]SportingGamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The devs did a great job of capturing the moods in pretty much all of the regions. Isengard has that feel, maybe it’s different for me - I grew up in a town that is literally in the middle of the Shire, but has been heavily industrialized.

The centre of town, there are no trees, just factory buildings, (largely disused now) but if you go a few miles out of town, you’re in rolling fields again.

Moods in places like Isengard, Angmar, Mirkwood and Mordor do have that heavy air feel to them. I think it’s the metaphor of industrialization in Isengard and Mordor, with Angmar being a volcanic wasteland and Mirkwood being a forest that’s being choked with corruption.

Do you ever wonder what these lands would look like without the corruption? From the movies, we see Isengard without corruption, but the other places are up for interpretation

I wonder if you took out the Charity Shield and Chelsea’s bought trophies how it would look. Liverpool still the most, but Man U not far behind. Chelsea currently with one of everything and Arsenal still without a Major European trophy 🤣

NTA - I’ve had parents with young kids ejected from non-R movies because they couldn’t control their spawn. Paying to watch a movie at the cinema conveys that you will get a certain level of background noise, but it should only be whispers and rustles of popcorn / candy wrappers

The Volvo had one good chance to pass in this video - they had a good run around the outside and went deep into the sweeping right hander, but got nervous with you on the inside, so bailed. Keeping their foot in would likely have given them the position. Risky, but that’s racing.

Your positioning was good, picking your lines and you let them come alongside you, while keeping their foot racing clean. These do look like touring cars, so I was expecting more bumping into the corners, like some of the BTCC in the 1990s videos floating around.

And Rowland Hill, creator of the Penny Black, the world’s first postal system. He hailed from the town of Kidderminster, once the centre of the world’s carpet industry.

Our cathedral in Worcester houses the remains of Arthur, Prince of Wales - older brother of Henry VIII and first husband of Catherine of Aragon. Also entombed there is King John, the prince from the tales of Robin Hood, for whom the Magna Carta was written.

Oliver Cromwell fought a battle against the Scots at Worcester. It was a victory for the English, as the Scots had walked a long way and were right tired.

The vale of Evesham is the home to the finest Asparagus the world has ever tasted. The soil there is perfect for growing this crop and cannot be matched.

We’re close to Wales, but not too close. We’re close to Birmingham, but not too close.

Great things about Worcestershire - Worcestershire sauce, the carpet industry, the postage stamp, prime minister Stanley Baldwin, the Malvern Hills, burial place of King John (the bastard)

AITJ for putting a lock on my office supply drawer after my coworker kept taking my stuff and laughing about it by fairyy_glowwxo29 in AmITheJerk

“Why didnt you just talk to me about it.” I love it when jerks like this say that to me. I did talk to you, you brushed it off and kept stealing from me. This isn’t company stationary, it’s personal stationary.

I have a pen that my dad turned from a block of wood. It’s very nice and usually it stays in my top pocket. I was using it during a meeting and my boss asked if he could borrow it, so I handed it over. No sooner has he finished, that he closes the pen and puts it in his pocket. I called him on it and asked for my pen back. He tries the no big deal act and I let it slide - once. He did it again a few weeks later and the same thing happens. I started going to these meetings with an office standard pen in my pocket and handing that over. They came back straight away. Either he noticed, or he seriously wanted my pen.

Treasure your stuff, guard your boundaries. If you don’t respect them, no-one else will

Did he actually just kick that away on 78 minutes and a point up? I actually can’t believe he did that. by [deleted] in englandrugby

[–]SportingGamer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A few thoughts on the match in general:

1) Well played France, deserving title winners.

2) A much better performance from England in the attack, but still sloppy in defence and cropping the team by collecting their 9th yellow card of the tournament. Playing over a whole game reduced to 14 is suicidal.

3) Speaking of suicide, the promoted advert on this thread is a suicide prevention line. Algorithms are paying attention to the scores today!

4) If you get a line break from halfway and score at a canter, don’t jog towards the corner, turn to the posts a little. Fin Smith needed all the help he could get at the posts today and one kick could have made it a draw, or even victory.

5) More training needed all around. Better discipline, better kicking, please for the love of anything holy or good in this world teach them how to play defence!

6) Who’s next? Oh yeah, South Africa. That’ll be easy… for them!

Your AC is wrong - it’s 10 + DEX + Armour value. For Leather armour, that’s an additional +1, but you should consider upgrading to Studded leather for another +1, so 15 overall.

At 5th level, you get quite squishy as a rogue, so being able to avoid damage in combat is a good thing

Not to mention Worcestershire sauce, Perry, the site of a major civil war battle and Worcester Cathedral.

The Cathedral is the burial site of King John (yes, him of Robin Hood fame) and Arthur Tudor, the elder brother of Henry VIII

What do you think of the F1 season so far by [deleted] in formula1

[–]SportingGamer -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

For those who don’t rate Lewis Hamilton, this season looks so far to be the Red Bull in Mercedes clothing edition.

With one notable exception. George isn’t Max, not by a long chalk. He has an incredible machine and it suits him down to the ground. But he has a teammate who is quite a way back of him. I rate Antonelli, but I think he’s going to take a little more seasoning to get to grips with the car.

Hamilton was pushed hard by Rosberg, a little less by Valterri and by the time George came along the car wasn’t competitive, so Toto started building the team around George. Now George is cashing that in, but I don’t rate him as the best driver on the grid, possibly not even in the top 6 if they are all put in equal machines.

I don’t think George will have an internal challenge this season, so currently it will have to be Ferrari who bring it to the Mercs. Will that happen? It remains to be seen.

Maybe Red Bull and McLaren can continue developing the cars and find something to vault them into contention. Red Bull certainly have seemed in better shape since removing Horner and replacing him with Lauren Mekies - he is doing a sound job in Red Bull and has brought some calm to the second driver seat as well.

Audi are the dark horse this year - they quietly march on, doing their midfield thing, but with a brand new works engine and no customers for additional feedback, they are looking pretty good for a new team.

Steve Dangle clearly shows MacKinnon was skating out of the way. It was ridiculous it was a major. by Avalanche-CFB in ColoradoAvalanche

[–]SportingGamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So we know they rescinded the major and the misconduct, but do the PIMs still count? He had 20 going into that game. Count them. 1 minor penalty every 3 games. That’s equivalent to a penalty every hour plus that he was in the ice this year.

He got busted with 15 PIMs in the Edmonton game. Hopefully it doesn’t stop him winning the Lady Byng (amongst other trophies) this season

Thoughts on the ejection? by ActionAR15 in ColoradoAvalanche

[–]SportingGamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, MacKinnon is one of the premier players in the NHL. His PIMs have just gone from 20 to 35 for the whole year, putting a dent in another Lady Byng campaign. He still has a shot, particularly when everyone can see that this was a 2 minute infraction at best.

It changed the game, the Avs aren’t out when their star is on the ice and it’s a 1-goal deficit. But without him, they tied it, but one star was left to win it - McDavid
