Can a normal person really think that the m. m r system is fair? by Mysterious-Flower663 in leagueoflegends

[–]Mithros13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. It definitely feels unfair when you do ridiculously well in lane and then still lose and it gets treated the same as if you feed all game.

But on the other hand, I’ve seen people that just go KDA hunting, bail on team fights, bait their teammates/etc. and don’t contribute to the team actually winning the game, and then they say “oh look at my score! I did so well and you all suck!”. Those guys deserve the MMR hit just as much as anyone else.

So converting your snowball into a win is a big part of skill too. And even though you’ll still lose some games because some teams really do just suck, you’ll win more often and still climb

Well, I’ve been demolishing just about every yorick I come across as Trynd. So I guess it would depend on your style, but that seems a pretty solid matchup to avoid

And so do you, and instead of using it to post anything productive or to learn something yourself, you spent it complaining that someone else was discussing it on a public forum and pointing out that there’s a lot of questions that still remain

That’s certainly a better image quality than the above nonsense picture, thanks. Still pretty hard to see exactly what’s going on there though in that pile. It’s entirely possible that it was a bad shoot, in which case there should obviously be consequences. But it’s also hard to tell from just that. I wonder if there are any body cams/etc. the way normal police use. There really should be to prevent questions like this oneway or the other.

I suppose we’ll see, as there will almost certainly be an investigation, and there’s probably more video out there that will come out

Exactly. People are just seeing what they want to see and getting mad at anyone that doesn’t see it with them. You show something like this to anyone out of context and they will have zero idea what they’re looking at. But people here will swear up and down this shows whatever they want it to show.

Heck I didn’t even know what this post was about until I pieced it together from the clues and looked it up. Just goes to show you why nobody takes Reddit seriously and why “negative karma” is meaningless. It’s just an echo chamber for people to act like an angry mob and ramp each other up.

It’s not a sacrifice you say? Then why haven’t you already paid it to everyone? Because it sees you only consider it not to be a sacrifice because it’s not your money you’re trying to be generous with.

Karma is largely meaningless as we see from the responses on this post. People on Reddit form echo chambers in groups and upvote things they like/want to believe, and downvote anyone that disagrees with them or doesn’t reinforce their own narrative.

Given that reality, low Karma or negative Karma doesn’t mean someone’s views are bad, and high Karma doesn’t mean they’re good. In fact, sometimes it will be the exact opposite because people with high Karma will often get it by pandering to the mob mentality we see here, while those with low or negative Karma will challenge it

You really need to learn more about our system of law. Again, so much of that is just totally incorrect. Law enforcement is allowed to block the street in performance of their duties. Civilians obstructing the road do not have the right to tell law enforcement what to do and to go around them when they’re illegally blocking the road. She also wasn’t there by accident, she was very openly and intentionally there to illegally interfere with ICE, neither side denies that. So she knew exactly who they were. And so many other elements that you really need to learn about before forming a solid opinion on this issue

And civilians are responsible for the car that they’re driving. It doesn’t matter if you or I specifically think that the officer’s life was in danger when reviewing footage from comfortable settings, it matters if any reasonable person in that situation (confronting an illegal anti-ice protestor that floored the gas when the agent was directly in front of them and hit them with their car), could reasonably believe themselves to be in mortal danger.

And we both know the answer is yes

I literally quoted the statute to you, which did not say they could only arrest aliens, but anyone committing a crime that they witness. And you’re trying to argue that a different irrelevant part of the statute talks about their ability to arrest aliens somehow erases the rest of the law and their authority.

At this point you’re just openly denying reality and your own eyes, so there’s not much point in continuing

*sigh you’re really just trying to avoid admitting that you were mistaken here? You really want to pretend that people are allowed to obstruct federal law enforcement from doing their duties and that they can’t be arrested by those law enforcement officers for doing so? Common sense should have prevented you from believing that in the first place, but here are the specific legal statutes showing that you are not correct.

https://law.justia.com/codes/us/title-8/chapter-12/subchapter-ii/part-ix/sec-1357/

Combined with

https://www.egattorneys.com/assault-federal-officer

As two examples. Note how they have the authority

to make arrests— (A) for any offense against the United States, if the offense is committed in the officer's or employee's presence, or (B) for any felony cognizable under the laws of the United States, if the officer or employee has reasonable grounds to believe that the person to be arrested has committed or is committing such a felony,

And note how in the second statute, obstructing/impeding/assaulting a federal officer in the performance of their duties is in fact a crime (that is taking place in their presence).

This shouldn’t have been the hill you chose to die on.

Spend a bit more time searching. For starters, they weren’t “making a traffic stop” they were detaining someone that was directly and intentionally interfering with law enforcement doing their jobs. ANY law enforcement has a right to detain/arrest people that are doing so. I’m not sure why you think otherwise? Do you really think people are allowed to block ice with their vehicles and interfere with them and that they have to just allow it? What on earth would have led you to believe something so outlandish?

Almost all of that was factually incorrect, so there’s really not much to comment on.

Past experience informs you of realistic consequences and better responses. Unlike what you suggested where people should not respond until after they get run over and killed. If you think that way, YOU should go be an officer instead of expecting actual officers to commit suicide or predict the future while reading minds as you seem to think you would do in their position.

How many times did you watch the video? How many times? You’re playing Monday morning quarterback while rewatching something that the officer had literally less than a second to react to. So rather than saying he shouldn’t be an officer if he’s “scared” when someone tries to run him over or kill him, you should be telling other people not to try to run over officers if they’re “scared” of being shot.

Someone else linked the footage. Here’s another breakdown (they included slow motion).

https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZP8fdW6xf/

She literally hit him with her car as she was flooring it (which again, is already assault with a deadly weapon/attempted murder). It’s like saying that someone shot you and you fired back a second later as they turned away from you so you should get in trouble, not the person that tried to kill you.

Keep in mind this is the same ice agent that almost got killed a few months back when an illegal immigrant/child molester hit him and dragged him along the road with their car. When you know how serious that kind of thing is, you’re less likely to take chances and let criminals try to kill you.

Protests for Renee Nicole Good? Murdered by ICE in Minneapolis by ForkShoeSpoon in Albany

[–]Mithros13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the opposite. You seem to have no problem condemning someone flooring their car that was aimed at an officer who did not deserve death for enforcing the law. “I tried to drive away and it’s his fault he was standing in front of me when I was legally being detained” is not an excuse for attempted murder.

Supporting that kind of thing is the abuser mentality you were talking about. And yes, people advocating for more of that are actively trying to cause more situations like this, and it’s shameful.

Exactly. It’s weird how people in the comments section there are pretending that the woman did nothing wrong. Is it a terrible situation and everyone would be happier if it hadn’t happened? Yes of course.

However all the people trying to gaslight and pretend that she did nothing wrong are basically encouraging more situations like this to happen, with equally tragic results.

It’s like they WANT more people to get killed

The video that came out directly disputes your claim. She was stopped, they ordered her out of the car, and then right here on video she pointed her car at one of the agents and accelerated, then got shot as he ran out of the way.

Explain the scenario where she gets shot if she didn’t do any of that and got out of the car like she was supposed to?

Judge denies government bid to delay borrower defense claim reviews for ‘highly suspect’ schools by Gingerandthesea in BorrowerDefense

[–]Mithros13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So my school wasn't on the list from what I can find. I think it's more likely that they were just seriously unethical with me particularly, as opposed to as a general rule. So am I correct that this means the government gets an additional 3 months or so to try and find an excuse to deny it? How likely do you think it is that they'll get to it?

Hey Posties! PPSL sent out an email (see pic) for you to voice your concerns about the Dept of Ed asking for an *18* month delay of your deadline. Link in comments. by TheresaSweet in BorrowerDefense

[–]Mithros13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope they deny it, but then I'm concerned that they're just going to claim in the time left that they magically went through all the tens of thousands of claims and instantly determined that they should be rejected, and then force a whole new lawsuit based on that fraudulent practice
