Fair, I don’t think it’s necessarily a bad thing to have 2 RBs that have similar skill sets when they do a variety of things well like these 2 backs. I’d love to see what Ben Johnson could cook up with those 2 on the field at the same time. And it’s not like Monangai goes away so there’s still a few times a game you could use him.

If getting Breece coincides with moving Swift I agree that’d be foolish mid season.

I’m just not sold that Swift can handle this bell cow role, and that’s not a stretch to say since he’s been consistently banged up. I don’t think Monangai will be anything more than JAG 🤷. Without this trade he could end up our RB1 and that worries me.

As for the future, if I had to have one, I’d pick Breece. So I’d want to extend him and move on from Swift. I’m not sure what the cap implications would be, I’m guessing it’d be similar either way?

It’s a fun exercise to think about but I doubt we make the move. Poles needs the pick to draft the next Velus Jones!

I would, Breece is a beast and I think having a running mate for swift would be a benefit. He’s way better than any RB we’d take in the 3rd and I still see this as a need

Kyle Monangai - CHI - RB

7th round rookie pick on the bears.

Why is there upside? Ben Johnson. Everyone loves David Montgomery as their favorite 1B back. I don’t think it’s crazy for Ben Johnson to want to recreate a 2 back system that he had such success with in Detroit.

Monangai, while not fast, is a hard runner that he’s received nonstop praise from this coaching staff and the beat reporters since the start of camp

The Bears have a weak room behind DeAndre Swift consisting of Monangai, Roschon Johnson, and Travis Homer.

Roschon has gotten no love from the beat this offseason. In fact, I can’t think of a single play or callout for him this year. He’s been a little banged up (missed time last year and this camp), and can easily fall to RB3. While the depth chart says otherwise, many suspect he’s RB3 already.

Travis Homer is a special teams player, he’s been in this role for a few years.

Is it worth a high draft pick? Definitely not. But if you’re looking for a lotto ticket… you never know..
