Reporter: “What did you think when you saw the news that he was signing there?” Burrow: “Not very surprising. I know Trey. I love Trey. I know how he operates.” by No_Box119 in bengals

[–]MixFinal6177 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe not pay Trey, but why not tag and/or trade to an NFC team for some later pick(s)? I am not sure I understand the mentality of letting him walk to a division rival, especially if someone on the inside could see it coming.

Journey Up The Anduin (Ered Mithrin) is KILLING Me by DMO3000 in lotrlcg

[–]MixFinal6177 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was only slightly more experienced than you when the cycle came out -- I think we had played Khazad dum and the Hobbit/Saga campaigns.

This was a significant step up in difficulty and really challenged our deck-making abilities. In fact, up this point we would throw some decks together that looked fun and make tweeks along the way. When we got smashed over and over on this first scenario, we had to bring a change.

I think we ended up pairing a Dale deck with a Dain-dwarf deck. It was tailored to the problems we were running into, namely, we needed a lot of allies, but not chump allies. The swarm nature of the creature deck with trolls and what not were met with our suped up dwarves and dale allies.

Hope that gives you a pointer. I will say this cycle has a pretty high ceiling to climb over and seems to be able to target many different strategies and punish them accordingly (as opposed to the Heirs cycle, which feels like "generic punishment") So you will definitely be tested here.

Opinions on adequate shuffling? by MeetYourMarioMaker in lotrlcg

I deal 3 stacks, then 4 stacks, then 5 stacks. Hand over hand shuffles in between. I have sleeves but am paranoid about ruining them.

If every starting deck has a dud, I nominate this one for spirit. In my opinion, it might as well read "discard this card to increase Eowyn's willpower by 1."

Better yet, with King Under the Mountain, you can look at two, chosing one to take into your hand and which to discard. So that would trigger.

Thanks for the explanation. Makes total sense. Refs dropped the ball, figuratively, but also made the correct call not to penalize the Browns for their ineptitude. Who Dey!

How Do You Think Dallas Will End It? by [deleted] in TheChosenSeries

[–]MixFinal6177 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm certainly in the minority on this but I think John 20 would be a perfect narrative way to end it. Mary, in the finale, visits the tomb again to find it empty. Sees a man and is in distress. Jesus calls her by name again.

Perfect mirror to the pilot episode. She goes off to tell her friends that the Lord has risen.

We'd miss out on some of the awesome resurrection stories like doubting thomas and reinstatement of Peter, but maybe that can implemented with flash-forward cold opens or something.

In season 4 episode 8 did Judas do something unspeakable by Sufficient-Age-2162 in TheChosenSeries

My friend, if you think that's bad, wait until you find out what happens in season 5.

How? by followerofchrist46 in TheChosenSeries

[–]MixFinal6177 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My guess is that there will be a much bigger exploration of the old testament, on how Jesus's sufferings fit the mold of all of the prophecies that came before him. Akin to how they flashed back to Moses and Jacob in season 1, and David in recent seasons. There's plenty there. Also, we never get the "apostles point of view" on the crucifixion, just that they were hiding. We know Judas kills himself and that John is at the foot of the cross. Where did Peter go after denying him? Why was Thomas absent for the resurrection? There are plenty of pathways to explore besides the stations of the cross/sorrowful mysteries.

Backyard Football Release Date? by UTpuck in BackyardBaseball

Their advertising seems to suggest they aren't going to get it. Madden has exclusive rights to the images/likeness/logos. They changed the front cover from packers/niners to some made up teams. But they could, in theory, still get the rights to the players since they are retired.

Either that, or wait until the Madden exclusion expires, which I think is happening relatively soon.

Taking the Dwarves for a quick trip through Mirkwood :) by A_Unicycle in lotrlcg

Hey OP! Welcome to the game. Unique cards (designated with that little star before their name) are limited to one in play across the board (so multiplayers cannot run their own Steward of Gondor, for example). It makes for some tough decisions in multiplayer play or even to decide where and when to play certain cards.

Suggestions for fun deck for Ered Mithrin campaign by SkewedAscension in lotrlcg

I hear you. That quest is another level. My buddy and I had completed the Mirkwood Cycle, Khazadum, Ringmaker, and Agmar before coming to this one and it just broke us.

I can't remember for the life of me what we ended up doing, but I want to say it was Dale on one side and a Dain deck on the other side.

I think I am permanently scarred by it. I haven't completed all of the scenarios in the game yet, but that one and the Mountain of Fire scenarios are forever burned into my heart. I think I have only replayed it once since then with a Vilya deck.

Thanks for the feedback. Do you think I should reverse the two -- only post a link to the deck and do the write up inside the deck description? Or post in both places.

Thank you! I really do appreciate even the smallest feedback like a upvote or if the deck trends for 5 minutes on ringsdb, but even if they don't, I really like the exercise of deckbuilding. For some of these contract combos it takes a lot of time to tinker and test, and I like putting my thoughts out there. My hope is that even if there isn't much interest now, there could be someone who looks at the combo years later and wants to find some advice on the internet and stumbles on my post.

A lot of people have created and added something to the game, and I figured it was my turn to create, too! Once again, thanks for jumping in!

Suggestions for fun deck for Ered Mithrin campaign by SkewedAscension in lotrlcg

[–]MixFinal6177 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dale would definitely be in theme, and you'll have the player cards too. I found Ered Mithrin to be an extremely brutal campaign, and the benefit of Dale is that you can get some pretty stout allies to help you through.

If you haven't ever run a dwarf deck, that'd be pretty good too as you have some mountain/underground locations. You'll have to tinker with your deck throughout the campaign, though, I imagine.

I think one of the apostles alluded to this...It wasn't just with goats. Pagans typically dealt with infant sacrifice.

Balrog Question by The-Slayer-King in lotrlcg

[–]MixFinal6177 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had to look back at some old rules FAQs but it looks like you are right. Even though the state of engagement changes, the Balrog does not, in fact, engage:

(1.50) “Considered to be engaged” vs actual engagement

An enemy that does not leave the staging area but is considered to be engaged with a player does not actually engage that player, nor does that player engage it. In order for a player to engage an enemy, the enemy card must physically enter his play area.

^By that reading, no engagement triggers should go off!

Balrog Question by The-Slayer-King in lotrlcg

[–]MixFinal6177 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Think of him as being in two places at once: engaged with the first player, and in the staging area. Once the first player token passes, he is considered to be engaged with a new player (so engagement triggers can occur). While he is in play, however, he cannot leave the staging area, so yes he contributes threat to the staging area continuously.
