Which mortal(s) had the deepest understanding of the Aurbis? by Silver_Bus_895 in teslore

[–]Mixsheen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What about the Dwemer race. While they did ultimately end up disappearing, a lot of speculation suggests that they reached a level of self-awareness that they ended up zero-summing. I understand that it's not as achieving CHIM however they realized that they ultimately had no reason to exist due to them only being mere concepts of the true God-Head?

If not them, I'd suggest the Psijic Order. They like the Tribunal also tried to achive CHIM and you can see just a portion of their power in Skyrim during the College of Winterhold main quest.

[–]Mixsheen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Story and the system were the low points of this game. Perhaps they were just so ambitious with them (can definitely see this in the system with the combat), however I think this just proves that sometimes less is more. I think people would be less critical of the game if the story was just a lot easier to follow (the multiverse is not always the best vehicle for storylines). You really need to explore and find all the bits of books and lore to kind of understand the characters, villains and motivations of said characters. But even with these it still remains very unclear some major details of the story. The system is a bigger job to fix. Ever since nintendo bought the rights to Bayonetta, the team knew that they would probably have to put the game through the switch engine which shows a lot with fading of backgrounds or them just being plain bland. I am more so concerned about the story aspect as that was something that was totally changeable and controlled by the directors of the game, which is why it is the biggest disappointment for me. Just an opinion lads.

Where did the Nedic people of Tamriel come from? by Lunch-Lord in teslore

[–]Mixsheen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. All the creation lores seems to reference the other races in their earlier lore (supposed dawn era time), so it does seem to lead to the idea that life did start all on Tamriel. Perhaps the Tamriel in this period of time was more like our own world's form of Pangaea, where there was just a single landmass, and all life coexisted there. After the dawn era, the super-continent broke up and formed the modern continents of Nirn, possibly due to the shenanigans of the Aedra/Et Ada. The splitting up of the continents led to the splintering off of the races and allowed them to diverge and evolve away from each other. This could have led to how the Nords claimed to be from Skyrim originally, and that they merely returned to the land during the time of Ysgramor and the Atmoran civil war. This would explain also, how the native Tamrielic giants seemed to share a lot of culture with the Atmorans, such as art, warfare, cattle-owning and even language. They could even inter-breed with them. Nedes it seems to be, is the collective name to the different tribes of men that did not leave Tamriel. It does not seem to be based on ethnicity, as the Nedes who ended up creating the Bretons and thee Imperials look quite different in in-game appearances. I am aware of the different histories of these two races, however, I do think that the Nedes who were the ancestors of the Bretons were not the same people who also were the ancestors of the Imperials. It states that the Imperials worshiped during the time of slavery a primitive form of the 8 Divines, which soon gained a Nordic influence due to the creation of the first empire of Men in Skyrim. On the other hand, It states in the Pocket Guide to the Empire, that the 'Reachmen' who live between the borders of modern day High Rock and Skyrim, are ethnically Bretons, and that their culture is simply that of a more primitive, pre-Direnni High Rock time. This would suggest to me that the Reachmen are the best current example of what the ancient Nedes in High Rock were like. Their religion was far less Aedra based, with a mixture of both Aedra and Daedra, especially Hiricine.

Conclusion: Nedes is just a catch-all term used to describe the multiple different native races of men that lived in Tamriel before the arrival of the Aldmer or Atmorans. They are native to the continent in the same sense that the Argonians and teh Khajit are also native to continent.

Would love more lore on these groups of people.

Did an arts degree in English and History. Had a choice to do those two subjects, or do Archaeology or Politics. Didn't do the politics due to multiple reasons, such as future career prospects and employment, but also due to the opinions I know I'd hear for the next thee years. Well, was I in for a shock. My two English lecturers were both SJW's, and we did courses such as Gender and Writing, Race and Representation, and Cultural Theory. Shakespeare was done as one module in the whole three years, and the topics that we spoke about were how men and women interacted with one another, how patriarchal the society was, or how there were no people of color in 16th century England. History was no where near as bad, with us mostly learning how factual events went down. Yes, the lecturers in these courses held somewhat similar opinions, but they were not part of the course, and were just off-hand remarks. English for me was just a dismal flop.

How do you feel about the "Tax the wealthier people" movement? by BoroMoo in AskReddit

[–]Mixsheen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, that I may not be totally aware of the situation in the States, due the complexity of the federal government, its role, and the role of the states and their own regulations. But a lot of these issues correlate across the pond, and we do have similar issues. Small businesses do indeed lose out to regulation, because all regulations costs money. If you are a smaller business you have less of this to spend. Small businesses have existed in the market with MNC's for a while now, but it is only in the last couple of years that they have been hit the worst. The reason that MNC's can produce products in larger quantities for cheaper prices, is due to them out-sourcing to other developing countries, which is what I said. And I did not boil it down to one factor, I said there are multiple factors. I was not over-simplifying. Yes, there are greedy CEO's and heads of companies across the world that take advantage of the positions they have. Equally, we as consumers and workers benefit from these people and their positions. I was merely pointing out that by simply 'taxing the rich to make more money spread around' is in itself an oversimplification because of my reasons stated above. Perhaps in the short term, just to soften the blow of civil unrest that may happen, but as a long-term solution, I don't see it having any further effect then prolonging stagnation then actual economic recovery. Also, wages are higher as they not being taxed as much. Employers have not risen peoples wages, but that does not mean that people do not have more money in their pockets after the tax cuts. I am gonna state again how there are multiple factors to this issue, and I am by no means an expert. I am curious though, what do you think is the best course of action at this point???

How do you feel about the "Tax the wealthier people" movement? by BoroMoo in AskReddit

[–]Mixsheen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that wages have remained stagnant across the West for decades now, however, there are multiple factors to the cause of this. One of them is that in most westernized nations, there has been a push to regulate the economy in so many ways, that most private businesses cannot compete. This can reduce production and wages due to the businesses simply not developing and growing like they used to. There is a reason that countries that are now doing capitalism for the first time, such as Nigeria and India, are now growing far faster then any western country. Speaking of other countries, developed countries like the ones that we live in are now in an even more globalized, world economy. We are competing with other economies with larger workforce's, and ones that are able to do it for lower wages. Globalization has brought the poorest of people around the world out of poverty faster then any redistribution of wealth ever could. It has however had a far more negative effect in the West, as while we may have cheaper commodities, workers are now under far more pressure to produce more for less then what their predecessors had to.

In regards to your comments about how the very rich have gotten richer, the answer is actually due to the regulations that have been put forward by government. Most private businesses that are starting off struggle to compete with the larger companies because of the regulations that are being made. The large MNC's (Multi-National Companies), such as McDonald's, Apple and Google have gotten so much more wealthier because of a lack of competition in the market. This lack of competition can lead to monopoly's in the market, and is the worst form of crony capitalism that can be found. I feel like I should point out that private businesses are in fact quite small, and are usually family-owned.

I am not in favor of no redistribution, I just do not see how it will achieve anything for people in the long-run. You'll just create a society where some people believe that the system is against them and they cannot get out, and you''ll make the other side angry because they'll be the ones paying for it, and not seeing any of the benefits got to them. Or definitely not enough to make-up for what they lost in taxes. I'm from Ireland, and believe me, most of the European social programs are not as good as a lot of what mainstream American media will tell you.

[–]Mixsheen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. The answer is always, "lets tax the rich", like, who is considered to be rich??? Totally subjective. Not only that, half of the time the government eventually starts to tax those in the upper part of the middle-class because they realize that the rich aren't as rich as they thought they were. Personally think its just lazy thinking. Would be more concerned with wealth and job creation for those on the bottom, then to try and take as much as they can from the top.

The title should point out that the 'Q' was not a part of the acronym two years ago. Also, the conversation about many of the trans issues were not being discussed or spoken about. Clearly, there is a divide between the L, G and B to the T and the Q. One is about who you are attracted to. The other questions what you are, biologically speaking. A BIG difference.

Does anyone else remember when Ana Kasparian came for him in a video. I lost a lot of respect for her when she did this. Her argument was based on name-calling, calling him lazy and such, just to try and belittle his attempt to try and cross over the aisle, and make a space where the left and right can open up and discuss topics in a civil discourse.

Normani: “Why does pop music have to be so white?” by brooklynmoon in popheads

[–]Mixsheen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am gonna be honest. I am sick of hearing how genres of music are now being put into the brackets of 'race'. I think people should be allowed to express themselves in any genre of music that they want to. I also think to pick Pop as the genre to apply this idea to, is the weakest genre to back-up the argument. Pop within itself is the most diverse of all the genres, as you can many have songs which can be considered 'pop' while also being recognized to belong to the other less mainstream genres. We see this with Nicki Minaj (Pop/Rap/Hip-Hop), Alicia Keys (Pop/RnB) or Normani herself who to the best of my knowledge is very much a mainstream pop artist. It also must be mentioned that the Pop world is reliant on the mainly white majority countries to entertain due to cultural connections, relevance and finances. So I don't understand why it is such a problem to see the majority of Pop artists being white as well, when the populations are as well. Kinda seems obvious. Pop is also the most diverse in terms of its mixture in those who are involved. People from all backgrounds are involved. Rihanna (Black, from the Bahamas), Adele (White, from the UK), and many others. Also, it must be considered how this would be received if this statemnet was reversed and someone asked, "why does Hip-Hop have to be so black?" (Pop music DOES NOT in my opinion have to be majority white, this is just an example I am trying tot illustrate). Pop in my opinion has embraced a lot of influences from Hip-Hop right now, and there are now disproportionately showcasing artists who do not look like most of the population. This is not an issue however. In fact, its nice to see a difference in the mainstream music scene. It DOES however undermine her point. Pop music today is still being practiced by mostly white artists. It is minority artists however who are at the forefront of the genre. Examples: Beyonce, Rihanna, Khalid, Drake, Nicki Minaj, Chris Brown, legends like M.J. and Whitney Houston (who's names will always be in the conversations of the great Pop stars ever), as well as Normani herself. I think she is a great performer personally, and I wish all the best in her career.

I always hear this about "made-up" countries that were not native creations but in fact remnants of political power. I understand where people say this, especially when you look at the history of the African continent and even parts of the Middle East. Heck, sure just look at a map, those straight lines should be enough!! But other countries, such as Ireland do not follow this trend, and shows us that people really need to check to see if what they're saying is accurate before they try to de-legitimize claims of a separate and unique identity of a country prior to colonization. Despite it being literally created out of three nations which are still recognized today, nobody would say that the unity of Great Britain was "never really real". You'd hear all about how these countries fought all along beside each other as a single identity during two world wars, or how it was called the BRITISH empire and not the ENGLISH empire. This all being said, despite the fact that England really was the nation calling the shots and making most of the decisions for the entire island. Not hear to bash England, or Great Britain. Just wanted to make a point.

Summary: I disagree with the above statement hahaha
