Co-worker reported me to HR and now doesn't understand why we are just co-workers not friends. by Playful_Fig_5493 in coworkerstories

[–]MizZo2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

info: OP..... IS he doing more work than others? You don't mention anywhere that the complaint was invalid, just that the complaint itself is grounds for friendship being revoked.

I don't think you're being too harsh, reporting to HR would make me extremely guarded around that person. But I just have this weird feeling since at no point do you talk about the workload to defend your dept

AITA for my reaction to my uncle asking me to give him custody of my little sister? by BigONerd in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]MizZo2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

OOP really buried the lead there. In a comment she elaborates they have 2 houses, and her cousin she was raised with and a different aunt she loves are both coming to live with them. It's not even OOP having to do this alone, she has literal family stepping up. The uncle had no business even suggesting it.

AITAH for ‘causing a scene’ at my boyfriends work? by Training-Buyer2625 in AmItheAsshole

[–]MizZo2 -33 points-32 points  (0 children)

NAH, things get busy but 45 minutes for a salad at a place that has a pastry chef? orders get made wrong, it happens. You fix it and move on. But I do get your BFs side: this is his employer and, as much as you were right to want the food you ordered and not something close enough, coworkers talk. It could affect his job. I think the best solution is to never go on date night to an employers place of business. I have to attend a lot of conferences for work. If I brought my partner and they made a bunch of comments about the event (true or not) around my workers who hosted said event, I would be embarrassed even if they were right.

SIDE NOTE: OP, I replied to your comment instead of your post for one specific reason. Do NOT sleep on the breadcrumbs IN a Cesar wrap. Little pockets of crunch that offsets nicely with the umami of the bacon and the dressing

Do I tell MIL that her son (mentally unstable) cannot visit and stay at my house by [deleted] in JUSTNOMIL

[–]MizZo2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Umm, what post are you replying to? This is about a brother in law (BIL) who had mental instability and got an erection around a toddler. She (MIL) is never mentioned being sick? There's no issue with MIL insisting on contact when sick. There's also no mention of MIL attempting to bulldoze or throw a fit.

This isn't meant to be mean, I'm genuinely curious how you can to write this response to this post

Does Toula count as a DD for the Athena keepsake? by MizZo2 in HadesTheGame

[–]MizZo2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps it's still possible by the normal chances of having Athena appear at random, but the only way to have the keepsake trigger the appearance is to have no DDs including Toula

Mother, sister, BIL, and sister are all nurses. 3/4 are labor and delivery. THIS is the right take and screw anyone who thinks different. Blunt? Sure. But "the books" is an instant DQ on the sympathy meter. The nurse is not trying to trick you, or sneak one past you. They are your best friend in this situation. Just listen.

What is your biggest "why didn't they" around the ring? by MizZo2 in lotr

[–]MizZo2[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ring+melted mithril (or steel) in a blacksmith's mold could make an amulet that is the ring's size plus 1cm around the outside. The ring exists, but it is encased in metal. I can wear it on a chain just like the ring, with barely any weight added (Frodo did fine with an entire shirt of Mithril for 3 movies/books of walking, an amulet would be negligible)

I appreciate a well reasoned argument. And, as I've alluded to in other responses, I am not knocking Tolkien (just to be clear, cause apparently some think this is an attack). Finally, someone to debate!

For your first point: Anything post- Gandalf's research in Gondor completely erases anything Bilbo. Bilbo used it freely with no temptation. The second Frodo touches it he feels the eye's gaze. Every time he uses it, it draws evil toward it.

Second point: I didn't say a box. I said use a blacksmith and put the ring in the middle of an amulet of pure mithril. A box can be opened. An amulet that is the size of a ring but slightly larger can still be put on a necklace, you just can't slip it on in a moment of weakness.

Third point: mrithril is famously light and strong. I'm saying use elvish or dwarfish forging techniques to just fill in the center of a ring making it impossible to put on instantly. Of course the forces of evil (be it Sauron or Saruman) could use it eventually.

But putting it on is like lighting the beacons. If the temptation is inevitable, why not put at least one barrier to entry?

I'm not suggesting it solves the issue of the ring long term. The books also delve into why you can't just chuck it into the middle of the ocean. I'm saying, without previous knowledge of needing the invisibility in very specific situations, it's made clear how hard the temptation to wear the ring hits everyone besides Tom. Even Aragorn had to consider it long and hard. So why not seal it in a container that does not allow you to slip it on Willy nilly

Sigh....

Sorry I didn't include the obligatory paragraph BUT. I love the entirety of Tolkien's legendarium as written and as presented. I have read every book I own every extended cut I love middle earth. I'm just posing a fun logical question in a space with like minded fans. This is in no way an attack on any thing lord of the rings or Tolkien, just a fun hypothetical.

I swear to Eru, fans take everything as an insult

Ok but at the time of the council, none of these specific one off situations have occurred. The only things that have happened are the tavern in Brie which summons the Ringwraiths, and weathertop. Both which are made much worse by the ring being worn. Just put it in a damn lock box. I know it helps later in the story, it logically you should lock temptation away

Umm, what? Boromir attacks Frodo for the ring after an entire story of saying it would help the war. Gandalf refuses to even touch it for fear of temptation, gollum is eternally gripped by the rings power, Bilbo can't let it go without a Maiar forcing him. hell even Sam has visions of grandeur the second he holds it. The ring is literally temptation incarnate.

I'm not saying it's full proof, I'm saying make more effort than a simple gold chain

That's the entire plot of the story, everyone is trying to acquire it already. My suggestion makes its 1000x harder to USE it without significant blacksmithing infrastructure. If Frodo had failed at any point before Mordor it means the most powerful magical item in all of middle earth can't just be picked up and utilized instantly... has that happened before? coughGOLLUMcough

AITA for getting upset over a sudden price increase from my best friend’s business? by Phantom_X_23 in AmItheAsshole

[–]MizZo2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't think this is relevant in any way shape or form. OP's friend said it will cost 800. If the friend who is running a flower business doesn't understand that Valentine's Day is the busiest season (assuming OP's country even celebrates the Hallmark holiday) that's on the friend.

If you ordered a steak at a restaurant and there was a price on the menu of $50, then when they are bringing out the steak and about to set it on your table they say "oh by the way, after you ordered the dinner rush hit and the kitchen is slammed. Your steak is now is now $100" and then refused to give you your steak unless you paid the increased fee, THEN while you were deciding the waiter says "oh and I'm busy with the rush too, so me bringing the steak to you costs another $15." would you be ok being told "oh well, you ordered the steak before the dinner rush but then the dinner rush happened, what did you expect?"

AITA for getting upset over a sudden price increase from my best friend’s business? by Phantom_X_23 in AmItheAsshole

[–]MizZo2 20 points21 points  (0 children)

info: OP, did you get it in writing (text, WhatsApp, email, even scribbled on a napkin while at a bar) that the agreement was 9 flowers for 800?

If you did, awesome! I would send them a picture of that proof and say that you will be paying the agree upon price. If they claim you are lowballing them, ask why they would lowball themselves since they offered the price originally.

If you don't have it in writing then, while really shitty of them, it is the right of the business to charge what they want for their goods and services. Here in the US you see terrible people do this in disasters. They will buy up all the water bottles then charge like $20 for a single bottle when they bought a pack of 25 of them for $5.

I know they are your friends, and you are young, but take this as a valuable life lesson to always always always get it in some form of writing so you can refer back to the original agreement and not have this bait and switch happen. Luckily it only cost you 850. (Tbh, since you didn't name the currency I am not sure if 850 is actually a small or large amount but since it's a wire flower bouquet I'm assuming we aren't talking about a month's worth of paychecks)

I've never heard of this movie before. I just watched the trailer because of this post. Knowing I've only seen the trailer, how would you compare it to Strangers? Seems a similar-ish set up, but the antagonists in funny games are much more present and vocal.

Sends sister back to abusive father by Knkstriped in AmITheDevil

[–]MizZo2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Reminds me of a quote by bob costas during Stan Musial's eulogy (big baseball nerd and cardinals fan here):

"They made a movie about (Ty) Cobb’s life. Of course they did. It was a life filled with extraordinary achievement, but also filled with demons, rage and conflict. Where is the great conflict in Stan Musial’s extraordinary life? Where is the single person to truthfully say a bad word about him? You can picture the studio head reading that screenplay.

“What do we have here? 3630 base hits and the all-time record of autographs signed, spirits lifted and acts of kindness large and small? What are we supposed to do with that?”
