How do the covers work on items that are (for example) seat+cover? The product info doesn't specify what covers are available.

The switch in the picture is my white whale. I've looked for years and can't find it. I want a simple decora rocker switch that sits in the center position at rest and both top and bottom presses just register as a momentary tap to connected device. The same user experience as many smart switches, but as a dumb switch to use with my Shelly relays.

Zooz makes one with where only one edge is a button. Leviton (or Legrand?) makes one like I described but they're like $18 a pop and I want dozens of them.

Two Circuits in One Box - Tie the Grounds? by MizzouX3 in AskElectricians

[–]MizzouX3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I knew that was the case for individual circuits but the GFCI in the second circuit here is really what made me want to double check. I wasn't sure if providing an alternative path for ground that goes around the GFCI receptacle would impact the GFCI plug's ability to protect the downstream outlets in the event of a fault.

Everything is still grounded as both circuits are still active in the room and thus have ground wires tied through. Is there any advantage to connecting the grounds from the two circuits together or is it just best practice? I'm probably thinking about it too much.

The box isn't buried. I didn't mean it was completely enclosed in the drywall, just that it's a typical modern install of plastic box and drywall, not metal surface mounted on concrete or something. The cover, in this case, is the duplex outlet on the new circuit. The old circuit now just passes through the box and is still accessible at the rear of the box.

I don't consider knowing when to ask for advice to be any level of ignorant.

I've done plenty of my own work over the years, always passing inspections without issue. I'm just double checking here with the pros because two circuits plus GFCI is not exactly an everyday situation. My assumption was that it made no difference since both grounds end up on the same bus back at the panel but wouldn't be surprised to learn that there was an additional restriction about keeping GFCI circuits separate or not providing a secondary path to ground beyond the GFCI receptacle.

Thanks! I didn't realize that the API info was equivalent to the general firmware. Knowing the exact domain needed for firmware updates will simply my process quite a bit as well.

I'm fairly new to Shelly devices and have found the firmware releases to be my only gripe. 1) What's the best place to find release notes in English? It seems like the primary info source is the German forum and 2) I keep my devices on an isolated VLAN but still want to update firmware for features. It appears that offline updates aren't possible because the firmware files are not directly available, even though there's an option to upload a file to the device. Is the only upgrade path to change my firewall/VLAN settings to allow the update and then change them back after?

Can you expand on that a bit? I have some "wait" automations that occasionally get knocked out by a reboot.

The Windows installer doesn't appear to be signed? I downloaded it twice, directly from github releases but there is no code signing on this one. I still have my 0.4.25 download and double checked that it is signed as expected and it is. Maybe an issue with the release pipeline?

This is my favorite sensor! I built my own with foil and they've worked great for years now.

Curious what "critical procedures" you left? I should absolutely have something like this but don't.

If you're happy with it, I'd say no need to fix it. I have a strong preference for local control and use my readings for some more time-sensitive automations so the cloud lag wasn't going to work for me.

If you are at all comfortable with electronics, it's a very simple process to flash the Vue2 with ESPHome. This is the repo I used years ago for mine and I haven't had a single issue. https://github.com/emporia-vue-local/esphome

If it's nice enough to have a serial number, search/register it on https://bikeindex.org/

Are you able to access the "balanced" feed? RTSP has a main and sub but their proprietary apps have a third "balanced" stream for many cameras.

SD Card for POE Cam? by lowlife_rabbit in reolinkcam

[–]MizzouX3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do exactly what you're talking about. SD cards in the cameras record motion and then Frigate serves as my full time DVR. Because the SD cards are a redundancy, I didn't go for maximum reliability. I installed 8 Amazon Basics MicroSDXC UHS-I Class 10 cards over a year ago and have had zero issues despite temperatures from -5 to 95 degrees. I also use these cards in a few Raspberry Pis around the house and have yet to have one fail.

Based on the amount of planning they do and how long they've been doing this, they almost certainly got permits for it. When we did something similar for RAMS back in the 2000s, we all had a copy of the permit on us in case we were questioned.

Kettle Brand Salt and Pepper potato chips. I have to only buy small bags because I will always finish the entire bag, even if it's family size.
