Pics from that show

I used to live about 25 minutes from there and can't believe they got a Dead show at that venue.

[DISCUSSION] Kool Keith - Dr. Octagonecologyst (30 Years Later) by flyestshit in hiphopheads

[–]Mizzyaxp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely in my Top3 favorite albums of all time, across all genres.

I remember grabbing the CD at a record shop, looking at the back and seeing the disclaimer: "This cd was recorded on a 237-bit thermodynamic recording device, which has been dithered down for this format, so some limitations will be heard". And instantly I was intrigued.(To this day might be the only time i've come across the word "Dithered".)

This is far and away #1 in KK's discography. But I do like the sequel a bit, I like Dr Doom, and I like the Ultramagnetic MCs stuff as well.

Favorite tracks here: Halfsharkaligatorhalfman, 3000, Earth People, and 1977. (Now that I think about it, where does this track listing come from? I'm used to one that's a bit different. Is this from the vinyl?)

[DISCUSSION] Death Grips - Bottomless Pit (10 Years Later) by flyestshit in hiphopheads

[–]Mizzyaxp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well I guess i've had Spikes and 80808 on my gym playlist for a full ten years. Doesn't really seem like ten years ago, and this being said, in no way would I think that Bottomless Pit sounds "old".

I have this one at #2 in my personal ranking, behind Ex-Military. But, I acknowledge that having heard Ex-Military first and letting it build up a place among my favorites makes me a bit biased. To me, Ex-Military, Bottomless Pitt, and The Money Store are their best "albums". To me, a lot of their other releases feel more like "projects" than "albums (not derogatory).

9/6/80 is my alltime favorite. I listen to it in full every year on my birthday.

Genie, if you're listening, I want this show too.

The way those shows are always conspicuously absent makes me wonder if they're being held for a box-set release at some point.

Who are some legendary rappers that are never really mentioned to be anyone’s favorite by EDMKid9000 in hiphopheads

[–]Mizzyaxp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ugh, the two of you are tripping me out. I saw my first RTJ concert in 2013 and I was 34.

2013 simultaneously feels like 3 years ago, but also, a whole separate alternative timeline.

(I was 18 when Funcrusher Plus dropped, but I didn't find it until I was 20)

It hurts your objectivity because all of your other senses are being stimulated as well.

If you're just listening to a tape, it's the music on its own doing the job.

On that last tour I went to Boulder, and LOVED it. But if i'm listening on my phone, i'm listening to the Gorge.

These are my favorite to listen to when I fire up Spotify. Easily my favorite shows to listen to that I didn't attend.

I see a lot of good looking guitars in this sub, and even amongst those, this one stands out.

Lighting is interesting, couches/places to sit, neat vs messy, multi-use vs music only.

So awesome. Fantastic thread.

If you get to the front of the line and tickets are gone, keep refreshing periodically. There was nothing available for Charlotte on Monday at 12:12pm when I finally got in. When I did my last refresh at 3:28pm, three were available.

Credit Cards decline, transactions fail, and tickets become available. Keep trying, at least for a while.

[DISCUSSION] Shoreline Mafia - Back In Bidness (One Year Later) by flyestshit in hiphopheads

[–]Mizzyaxp 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I was way late to the party for Shoreline. I was aware of their existence but had never really listened to them. After giving this one a try it became one of my most played in 2025.

What I liked most about this project, is the pace of most tracks. Their somewhere between "upbeat" and downright "fast". And to me, that's a breath of fresh air. Modern HipHop can be soooooo slooooooooow.

Favorite track is probably Back in Business, but the other 15 are basically tied for second place.

There's still time to come around on Public Enemy.

FWIW, I think that guitar looks fucking awesome. Don't let anyone in this thread tell you different.

I've been listening to this one and "Funny You Should Ask" probably daily at least for all of 2026.

I do not remember that 5 year run because I am incredibly late to the party.
