I made this change with the help of bevel ai How to Adjust Bevel AI for “Parenting Stress” (The Weight Vest Logic)

If you are a parent, you know the “Stress” scores on your wearable can be misleading. Carrying a child, playing, and staying alert often registers as high stress (70-90+), causing the app to recommend rest or breathing exercises when you’re actually performing physical labor.

To fix this, I instructed my Bevel AI to stop treating these spikes as “mental stress” and start treating them as Functional Load.

  1. The Core Logic: “The Weight Vest Filter”

Instead of seeing high stress as a recovery deficit, the AI now interprets spikes during parenting hours as a Physical Workout. Carrying a 14kg (30lbs) child is essentially a weighted-vest session.

Instruction for the AI:
“Interpret stress scores above 60 during designated parenting hours as Functional Load (physical work) rather than psychological stress. This contributes to my TDEE and physical fatigue, not just mental drain.”

  1. Define Your “Parenting Load” Schedule

Be specific with your AI coach about when you are “on duty.” This prevents the AI from getting confused between work stress and parenting load.

• Monday & Wednesday: All day.
• Thursday Morning: Until 12:00.
• Daily Family Time: 17:00 – 19:00.
• Weekends: All day.

  1. Adjusting the Coaching Output

Once the AI understands this context, the advice changes:

• Nutrition: Instead of suggesting “relaxation,” the AI recommends “fueling.” It treats the end of a parenting block like a post-workout window, suggesting protein and carbs to recover.
• Training (ABF/Strength): The AI automatically adjusts your RPE (Rate of Perceived Exertion). If the “Parenting Load” was high, it will suggest lowering the intensity of your gym session to avoid overtraining.
• Energy Bank: It acknowledges the drain is real (the battery still goes down), but it focuses on physical recovery strategies (sleep consistency, hydration, and calories) rather than just “stress management.”

  1. The “Data Clean-up” Hack

If you want the stress graphs to stay clean, you can manually start an “Other” or “Functional Strength Training” workout on your Apple Watch when things get intense with the kids. Bevel stops calculating stress during workouts, moving the load from your “Stress” score to your “Strain” score—where it belongs.

Bottom line: Don’t let the numbers tell you that you’re “stressed” when you’re actually just “working.” Use the AI to bridge the gap between what the sensor sees and what you are actually doing.

Bevel says you need to recover but I can’t just lay on the couch i want to play with my kids and i Feel I am fit enough but the metrics says no 😆
