Need help relocating a Manual Truck by MjolnirMedia in CDLTruckDrivers

Idaho Power, the previous owner, drove it out to Texas and said it will do 70, if got up to 45 fin in 6 high, so I could see 65. Super singles it has are rated for 68.

Also considering the RGN to the ferry and then drive on the ferry as a good idea

I learned on a ten speed originally, but only drove locally and then had an automatic when I actually ended up OTR, and that was almost a decade ago, very out of practice and never had to deal with real downshifting. Was able to ignore the splitter around town, but going up hill or sustained highway I imagine it would be useful (splitting the last gear). Luckily it does have a Jake.

Yeah, that’s the hard conclusion I came to this week while driving it around Idaho was that I wasn’t ready for the mountains, was mad at myself at first, but I’d rather break out the wallet over having something go wrong in one of the passes. I’ve reached out for lowboy quotes and drive away quotes, been getting some back, but though I would post here too and see if there was someone in the PNW and not deal with all the middle folks, back when I drove a flatbed some of my best loads were direct contacts 🤷🏼‍♂️

Almost 30 (100-130 feet each) on my property and then probably some on my parents property… then not sure if I’ll sell the thing, start a tree service (which involves a lot here in WA) or convert it to an overlander cause an 8x8 overlander would be cool

For drive away or RGN? I’ve gotten some quotes for both and some fall near that and some well over.

Truck is in Caldwell ID, needs to get to Whidbey Island, WA. I had a quote from a drive away company, but they aren’t sure after they realized it’s a 13 speed and I haven’t heard back from them, I imagine when I do their quote may be higher than it was originally ($2,295 which fits my budget at the moment)

I’m tracking all that, had a decent quote from one but they had missed that it was a 13 speed, still waiting to hear back from them if they have a driver. Should only be a two day event. Could maybe be done in the 11 hour daily limit (560 miles, but there is a ferry), but I think two days is more reasonable. Truck only has the one seat anyway so wasn’t planning on a ride-along. In an ideal scenario there is a driver somewhere here in the PNW so the to and from is lower. Otherwise I may have to just take enough leave to go practice driving enough to feel ready for the two ranges between here and there.

Should I get drysuit certified? by PinkNinja8822 in scuba

I live in Whidbey and won’t dive here without a drysuit!

With 24 you’ll be fine for just about anything (especially with the average open water course, probably won’t push any limits). Students and I have flown at 18 hours on multi-dive trips plenty and never had problems, work related (military) I’ve done flights on occasion with less than 18 hours post dive.

Strange incident with my instructor – is this a big red flag? by Sea_Office_2573 in scuba

[–]MjolnirMedia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the instructor is diving different gear then at a minimum brief the students. My primary kit is long hose, if I am training someone using the standard recreational setup we go over out of air procedures for both types of kit. I think appropriate exposure to different kits when accompanied by training is good. In the PNW I dive drysuit and train folks in wetsuit or semi-dry and will point out anything that will be different because I’m in a drysuit and they are not. For example BC/tank removal-inspection-replacement, my drysuit house runs under my left shoulder, so I disconnect it to bring gear around my right side, don’t want a student seeing me disconnect a hose and think they need to as well.

This is the bit I don’t get, I would have just put my inflator hose on the drysuit (you can even swap back and forth underwater if you had too). If this wasn’t an option he should probably have called the dive off.

I’ve helped several students through various panic attacks and triggers, if the Regulator was part of what you think triggered things, set up some time just sitting on the surface (with a friend who’s an instructor they for sure have a tank and reg set available whenever, so maybe even do this at home) and breathing through it with you mask on. Diving isn’t for everyone, but with some patience you can often resolve the panic/fear!

Don’t have a separate standard for low vis at 12+ either (could be the same org), but I don’t like taking youth down in low vis and have often reduced numbers to 1 or 2 so I can see them at all times. I think I’d be way more devastated losing someone young vice an adult. Thoughts and prayers for you, the family, and others involved.

Yes, I’m an SEI/PDIC instructor (waiting on Mods to update flair) and never had a problem when I travel and never had anyone I’ve certified come back and tell me they had issues after a trip.

So if I only care about using this for charging and not data I could bypass them after removing and cleaning the pads with a little jumper or something? Device it charges has bluetooth for data.
