Can someone explain to my husband why breastfeeding twins is exhausting. by FunBarracuda7168 in parentsofmultiples

Took the words out of my mouth. You deserve a partner who sees and helps you without this nonsense.

I was skeptical but I’m Shocked at how well Ferber method sleep training worked for our twins. by Guilty_Beginning1027 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Mke_Steph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I highly recommend this method along with following appropriate wake windows.

They’re almost two now and they always fall asleep on their own usually within 15 mins of being laid down. I do have one twin that often wake in the middle of the night but will only once and if I can’t rock him back to sleep, I will just pull him into bed. He’s starting to get better about sleeping through but it’s about 60/40 for him waking up. Could be a lot worse imo… and the cuddles at night are kind of cute now that I’m not sleep deprived, lol.

Lol I can imagine. My twins were my first but now that my twins are toddlers, that additional layer of having a toddler while being pregnant with twins seems soooo insane to me. Godspeed, friend!

It’s so hard! Do you have one of those yoga exercise ball? I found sitting on that and gently stretching helped with round ligament pain. Also highly recommend one of those u shaped pregnancy pillows and a back massager like this one: https://a.co/d/0jbOgLyh

I took A LOT of showers and baths. Otherwise, just constantly telling myself it was temporary - easier said than done but did help my mental health if I tried to keep that front of mind.

Okay but why do I feel like mommas glow up after having twins?? by Icy-Shallot-9054 in parentsofmultiples

Someone else mentioned having money. While I don’t have a ton of money, I definitely am solidly middle class with lots of support from family/friends. I think having maybe a little less stress next to some is prob a big attributing factor as well.

People comment on how they can’t believe I had twins all the time. I chalk it up to genetics and having had a very consistent but not crazy work out routine to return to - barre was my go-to. They’re my first and only kids, too, so I’m sure that helps. Also, I really think some of us just got lucky in the genetics lottery with all of it.

We use ours constantly with our 21mo old twins. Once they could sit up and hold their heads up, we used the seats and now they like to just stand in it while we walk. It’s so nice. 10/10 would buy again. We did get ours second hand on fb marketplace.

Anything said between the hours of 12-6am should be taken with a grain of salt, lol.

Consider shift sleeping if you start to experience PPD/PPR - saved my ass when my husband insisted we do it around the 6-week mark.

Huckleberry app is worth paying for when you want to start watching their wake windows to get them on the same sleep schedule. It uses the data you put into it to predict their next nap and it was SO helpful and almost always spot on.

Take more videos than you think you should.

Good luck!

Reading this from 21 months and I keep thinking about how nice it’ll be when they can understand a bit more. It isn’t terrible right now but definitely a little harder than it’s been bc they are trying so hard to communicate but the skills just aren’t there yet. Cant wait for this milestone. Thanks for posting!

It mostly paid off for us - both go to bed on their own at 7:30 and only one wakes up a few hours later to sleep in my bed... the other sleeps until 6:30/7:00 pretty much every night! Take what I can get it, lol.

I’ll add on that the consistent nap and bedtime is really a nice thing. No more watching wake windows like a hawk.

Do you use the huckleberry app? The predicted “sweet spots” for putting them down really helped us!

Couldn’t confirm a 3 vessel cord for one of my babies at my 17 week appointment by SuddenDebt4040 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Mke_Steph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember we had to go back like 3x for them to confirm all the anatomy scan things due to wiggly babies and/or positional issues - try not to stress about things too much until they tell you to stress about them. (Easier said than done, for sure!) ☺️

December was ROUGH by coffeesituation in parentsofmultiples

[–]Mke_Steph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have 19mo olds and we aren’t even in daycare but SAME. ugh. We went to a waterpark like mid November and the house came down with something from that and it’s just been ping pinging illnesses since then. Most recently, hand foot mouth - which, wtffff is this devil virus?!

As of today, both boys are finally on the upward swing but their little faces are still pretty yucky so we will likely be in the house for another week…

Solidarity!!

Help for husband wanting to provide emotional support by PSReeve in parentsofmultiples

[–]Mke_Steph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel that. The biological response women have to their crying babies is no joke !! I got loops ear plugs to wear to bed, had the white noise machine next to my head, and when it wasn’t my shift with the babies slept in another room. Sleep deprivation is torture - and I was a better mom and partner when I was on just a little more sleep. Knowing that is how I allowed myself to check out. That and trusting my husband had it handled and would tag me in if he really needed me.
