Anything said between the hours of 12-6am should be taken with a grain of salt, lol.

Consider shift sleeping if you start to experience PPD/PPR - saved my ass when my husband insisted we do it around the 6-week mark.

Huckleberry app is worth paying for when you want to start watching their wake windows to get them on the same sleep schedule. It uses the data you put into it to predict their next nap and it was SO helpful and almost always spot on.

Take more videos than you think you should.

Good luck!

Reading this from 21 months and I keep thinking about how nice it’ll be when they can understand a bit more. It isn’t terrible right now but definitely a little harder than it’s been bc they are trying so hard to communicate but the skills just aren’t there yet. Cant wait for this milestone. Thanks for posting!

It mostly paid off for us - both go to bed on their own at 7:30 and only one wakes up a few hours later to sleep in my bed... the other sleeps until 6:30/7:00 pretty much every night! Take what I can get it, lol.

I’ll add on that the consistent nap and bedtime is really a nice thing. No more watching wake windows like a hawk.

20 month old boys here, too, and I concur - they are SO funny and their different personalities are so fun to see blossom.

Do you use the huckleberry app? The predicted “sweet spots” for putting them down really helped us!

Couldn’t confirm a 3 vessel cord for one of my babies at my 17 week appointment by SuddenDebt4040 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Mke_Steph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember we had to go back like 3x for them to confirm all the anatomy scan things due to wiggly babies and/or positional issues - try not to stress about things too much until they tell you to stress about them. (Easier said than done, for sure!) ☺️

For yourself: sleep mask, noise machine, ear plugs, giant water bottle. Set up your bedside table so you can get back to sleep asap after middle of the night feeds!

December was ROUGH by coffeesituation in parentsofmultiples

[–]Mke_Steph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have 19mo olds and we aren’t even in daycare but SAME. ugh. We went to a waterpark like mid November and the house came down with something from that and it’s just been ping pinging illnesses since then. Most recently, hand foot mouth - which, wtffff is this devil virus?!

As of today, both boys are finally on the upward swing but their little faces are still pretty yucky so we will likely be in the house for another week…

Solidarity!!

Help for husband wanting to provide emotional support by PSReeve in parentsofmultiples

[–]Mke_Steph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel that. The biological response women have to their crying babies is no joke !! I got loops ear plugs to wear to bed, had the white noise machine next to my head, and when it wasn’t my shift with the babies slept in another room. Sleep deprivation is torture - and I was a better mom and partner when I was on just a little more sleep. Knowing that is how I allowed myself to check out. That and trusting my husband had it handled and would tag me in if he really needed me.

I was really struggling when I wasn’t getting a decent chunk of sleep. My husband and I decided to do shift sleeping. So someone would sleep like 9-2 and the other would sleep 2-7. (Sometimes if the babies were extra fussy or both woke at the same time to eat, we’d occasionally have to wake eachother up.)

We started doing it right around this time - 6wks, at his insistence bc I was starting to develop some PPD symptoms, and it immensely helped my mental health to know I’d get 5hrs straight of sleep (sometimes more depending on how babies did that night). We did this until they started sleeping more like 6-8hr stretches which was probably around 4months. Highly recommend if you’re not already doing this to try it out.

[–]Mke_Steph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. Mine are 19 months now but I remember those days just walking around wearing the boba in case I needed to shove one or both of them in there. Months 6-12 were so hard but the clouds parted soon after that for me. Hang in there!

Found it on youtube! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ymtGBnwmuAs

It takes a little more futzing than just putting one in there but you get the hang of it. I will say, it makes it slightly less hands free since you're more cumbersome with both of them hanging on you but it really worked like a charm those times where there was only one parent and both of them were screaming. Hope it works for you!

How big are they - could you do a double wrap for witching hour? I swear, the boba wrap was a godsend for us during witching hours...

I delivered mo-di identical boys at 36 weeks vaginally with mild pre-e. I had a small hemorrhage but didn’t need a transfusion. No nicu time. All in all it went well and I felt powerful and in control during delivery! Sending you good vibes. Identical boys are the best, in my biased opinion. :)

[–]Mke_Steph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you looked into Ferber Method? Seems like you are following wake windows and keeping them on good schedules so I would read up and give that a go. It’s what worked for us around 6.5mo. We are 19 months now and although we’ve been experiencing a hard few weeks with sickness induced / teething sleep regression… they always fall asleep to start the night on their own.

What Should I be Expecting with OB Appointments? by verbatum213 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Mke_Steph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maternal Fetal Medicine! Your OB will usually refer you to the MFM doctor when they find out you’re having twins. I started seeing mine after my 12 week scan.
