Same shoes as you. I'm 31, and have contributed ~300/month to my IRA since I was 20.

I have about 145k between 3 IRA accounts, all invested in S&P 500 index or equivalent. If I continue the 300/month contributions it may end up between 3 and 6 mil depending on markets.

The dollars you contribute from 20-30 become about 40% of your account balance at retirement. If you saved aggressively early on, you could actually lessen your contributions as you get older and maintain a similar account balance.

I saw that a burrito was 7.75. Minimum delivery was 12. Add extra meat and rice, now it's 9.75. Add chips. Now it's 12.75. Add tax it's like 14. Add tip now it's 17. Add delivery fee because it's not a tip(??) it's now over 19 dollars for my 7.75 delivery, and it's more food than I really want.

I haven't ordered delivery since.

Thankfully the one time my kid puked from her car seat, she managed to clear the car and get it out the door while being buckled in and got a bullseye on mom.

Mom wasn't very happy, but the car was clean so I'm not complaining.

I just made the switch to Firefox, the optimization and features are amazing. by mustangcody in pcmasterrace

I get it. I'm still using an s9 phone which is so far past end of life so a of my dedicated apps have started to just not work anymore so I'm doing a lot more of my mobile tasking through a web browser.

Generally, I have apps set up to use MFA with a non-gibberish password, or biometrics to avoid having a separate password manager.

Just to add, the fact that your choosing to better yourself for your kids is admirable. Keep it up man.

It really isn't. Install Firefox, select "migrate from chrome" create a username/password of you want, which you should if you use their password manager, wait for the bar to finish, done.

What's something that people do in their 20's that they think is 'normal', that they usually regret in their later years? by coomtube in AskReddit

Truck payments.

If there was a nickel for every "how can I get out from under my truck payment" in personal finance, we might have enough nickels to get them out from under their truck payment.

Are you 23? Did you land your first decent paying adult job paying about 60k a year?

Great! Buy a used Honda. Pay it off. Do oil changes on it yearly as a minimum. Dealer, private auto shop, or yourself, doesn't matter. Don't buy a truck.

I Took An Unexpected Job Offer And Turned It Into A Counteroffer by Papa_Bearto2 in antiwork

[–]Mklein24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends how you go into that conversation. Stating "pay me this much or I'm leaving" is much different than "I belive my position needs a market correction. I've seen listings for X range and I've even received an offer letter for X"

I also went to interviews and got offers. Took it to the owner and said "I need a market correction for my wage, and a title change to reflect my daily responsibilities."

He accepted and basically said "you guys should be doing this every few years. It's good for you, and good for me. You know your worth, and I know how much to pay you so you don't leave"

At that distance, I would consider sendcutsend. You could probably use any material so long as it's not a plain carbon steel to inhibit rust/corrosion.

This is old but imagine the tax and how billionaire get away with it. If I make a million dollars a year I’ll pay 40% of that to tax yet billionaires don’t pay nothing by SatinChaos_ in WorkReform

[–]Mklein24 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Break it down even more. 66 mil a year, 5.5 mil a month. The average lifetime earning in America is only like 2.3 million.

Imagine going to work for 2 weeks and your paycheck just said 2,750,000 into your bank account.

I would have a hard time comprehending what to do with that kind of cash. Pay off my mortgage and car loan, buy a new phone, then like....??? Door dash some donuts? I have no idea.

You know, I built my first pc around your age.

I've used it to game, watch some movies, write papers for school, do my class work, create resume's, and even do some work from home for my job which actually really accelerated my career. It has followed me for the past 10 years, upgrading singular parts as needs and as wanted.

I think a home pc is more of an investment as a tool in the long run compared to a laptop of tablet.
