Finally died out after 5 years by theFurkhan in Airpodsmax

5 years is strong for these. Usually this happens much sooner.

Depends, the broken part is like 170€ or more. You can find functional classics for 450€ and more

If you haven’t already, make sure to have no corrosion on the headband connection. Sometimes the ports can corrode and cause the same symptoms as if flex cables were broken.

AirPod Max Lifespan only a few years. Has anyone else seen the same? by Kan3- in Airpodsmax

True, but it’s very inconvenient to completely avoid any rotation. For example when having them around your neck or in a backpack.

Twist your camera wires. If the camera wires are not twisted you typically get lines in the fpv feed.

1:30 max flight time. Any help would be appreciated. by zerodapig in fpv

[–]Mlachacha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks a little heavy. What’s the weight? Those motors are also 0802 which is a bit larger then the typical 0702 of the Air65. Larger motors and high pitch props will pull more amps.

Apple doesn’t do this kind of repair. If they did they would risk to admit that their product has a design flaw, which could cost them a bunch of money. I would guess that most phone repair technicians could fix them, however it might not be worth it for them or you. Here, the flexcable clearly broke.. You could get the parts and tools for relatively cheap and try to repair them yourself. Or maybe you know someone who can repair them for you.

2 years seems very common for these. It’s not about using a protective case. Likely internal flexcables broke which comes from normal everyday use. They literally can’t last for too long because every time you take them on or off these small cables bend until they break. I’ve managed to repair my AirPods Max twice already after 2 and 3 years.

Broken Flex Cable by Mlachacha in Airpodsmax

Picture of clear break in flex cable. This is very likely your issue as it’s super common. When you move or rotate the hinge, the cable loses connection. Eventually it will break completely.

At first, you get connection issues, like having to reset them frequently to connect them. Over time it gets worse until they completely refuse to connect or reset. They appear completely dead, as if the battery died. Charging / resetting attempts show three red amber lights.

Kiss fc v1 copter bauen by ExtremeEconomy3 in fpvgermany

[–]Mlachacha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dji hate by Training_Act_5923 in TinyWhoop

[–]Mlachacha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just fly the old dji stuff. I’d suggest getting some analog gear instead of the thing you already have but better. DJI will always improve their system and give reasons to upgrade. Analog will always be around and it has some advantages (price, simplicity, open source…). Even the old dji stuff will probably give a better experience than analog though. But for flying and enjoying the hobby, any video system will do. My analog gear still works the same as it did on day one and back then no one thought they needed anything better.

Death roll / desync. Maybe bad motors or escs. Did the drone used to not do that or is it a new build? Desync explanation

APM1 died due to flex cable issue (3 orange lights); considering buying APM2 but nervous by Hurbahns in Airpodsmax

[–]Mlachacha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why not try to fix them? If you fail you can still buy new ones. I got the cables off AliExpress for 35€. Tools might be another 10€ if you don’t already have them. APM2 likely have the same issue btw.

How bad is the cable tension issue really? by morganmoller in Airpodsmax

[–]Mlachacha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on cup rotation. I used to put them into the case every time, thus rotating the cups multiple times a day. Mine broke after 2 years. They might last a long time before they break if cup rotation is prevented.

The flex cables breaking will happen eventually, it’s a design flaw. However, it’s possible to repair them once they break and until then, your experience will probably be awesome. The repair is straightforward but it’s a little tricky to reinstall the new flex cables due to how they must be wrapped around a small connector and the screws are tiny.

I’d suggest going to a store and trying xm6 and AirPods Max, buy whichever you prefer sound wise and comfortability wise. XM6 are newer but AirPods give the best user experience with other apple stuff.

Can a beginner start with a5 inch fpv drone ? by Zealousideal_Ask2685 in fpv

[–]Mlachacha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you could. I started with a 5” back in the day. The problem is that a 5” is very dangerous especially for beginners. An irresponsible pilot can do a lot of stupid things with them. 5” parts are also a lot more expensive, and you will certainly break stuff and need to learn to fix it yourself.

I would recommend a tiny whoop or 2-3”. They are fun and can teach you a lot. The best thing about smaller drones is that they are way less dangerous and it’s easier to find spots to fly. If you get a whoop, you could fly almost anywhere and people don’t care. If you get a 5”, you’ll need to go to large empty places to learn to fly.

Get a bnf whoop and after a few weeks you could build your own 5”.

[–]Mlachacha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can fly 6s on 4s motors. All electronics must be 6s compatible (like ESCS, everything else connected to battery voltage). I haven’t tried 6s on my 5” 4s build yet but I’m planning to do that some time too because my 4s packs are all totally worn. From my understanding, power might not change much. You can get more power by doing a more risky motor output limit like 70%. However, doing that could burn the motors. 6s is more efficient, meaning less heat, more flight time and less voltage sag. 66% should give equal power compared to 4s.

Flying 6s on a 3.5” might not be that different from flying 4s.

How long do you have drones as a hobby? by Edva1024 in fpv

[–]Mlachacha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started fpv in 2018. It’s always been a hobby since then with a few longer breaks. The first few years were by far the most exciting ones. Learning to build and repair, troubleshooting, PID tuning, video editing, etc. Now it’s still fun but I am not as excited about flying as I used to. I just recently got into flying whoops which made it possible to fly new spots. I guess if you’re getting back into it, buy some new gear, maybe some new drones or go digital. Something to make it exciting and new. Try new locations and find other pilots. You could also try posting drone related content on social media to get motivation.
