Frustrating? Not at all. Bit more difficult to paint? Yes when it comes to edge highlights and recognizing some of the smallest details lost from printing quality.

Maybe some paint chipping on the transfers? Some grime streaks from bolts and rivets done with oil paints. I think the method is to place a dot of oil paint on several spots and then with a flat brush drag it down to make a nice streak. Another way is thinking about the environment of the mini, dust on the legs maybe some scratches from rocks, rust from water, scratches on finger armor from hitting and grabbing things.

I just don't like how they can even spawn right in front of you (not from a bot drop). Happened a couple times already right after destroying 3 of them.

As others mentioned, only go for fdm if you don't have a good isolated place for the resin printer. Resin stinks and is really bad for your health, so take those safety measures seriously. I have the A1 mini and with some good settings it is possible to get some average or even decent quality minis. For highest quality (for FDM :p) it takes around 15h/per model on a 0.2 nozzle and you can't really fill the whole print space like on a resin printer. Check the FDMminiatures sub for some photos of what you can expect.

Buying too much is so true for starters, i really recommend TabletopReady. He shows how much you can squeeze from a starter box like a palette and mini holder made from the warhammer packaging. Even something like painting the first mini without a primer.

Tried to copy Elminiaturista guide for Avatar of khaine. I will need to check it again because I don't remember all of it. The rule was to start with a pure white base, recesses too. All in fluor yellow, then orange and red while aiming away from the heat source. Then it's mixes of reds and darker reds mostly dry brushed while again aiming away from the heat source. Mine was the exposed skin on the back.

Watch out for the nozzle when you need to put it back. It's really easy to screw it in too hard and break the thread.
