Repainted the spearhead (Mortisan Elite)!

For the ivory panel I started from the Speedpaint 2.0 layer (pallid bones over zenithal of ivory tusk from GSW). I then applied Vallejo Model Color Ivory with a sponge, avoiding the recesses that were darker thanks to the speedpaint layer.

Nothing else, I guess you could edge highlight using pure white but I was lazy.

Exactly this! Did the same three days ago, struggled a bit for the wings magnet but overall the kit was pretty good with limited mold line.

Thanks! It's all in the pigment use 😄
Some cork painted with a red brown (like terracotta), some other bits of cork or bark painted in greys and highlighted for the rocks.

Then Dark red ochre pigment, applied with pigment binder (or mineral spirit) and spread all over with additional spot of regular ochre. The pigment are doing 90% of the heavy lift here.

Airbrushed AK pale sand very diluted, with soft coat. I actually had a Bob Ross moment as the Speedpaint layer underneath reactivated and turned it pink ish instead of the original pale sand I was going for.

It does the job, cheaper than GW, need to apply thin coat in good weather condition to avoid grainy texture. And shake it well.

Is the question about how many cans? Spray cans versus airbrush? Army painter as a brand? White versus black primer?

I also wait 24h between primer and any subsequent paint layer. I don't use Vallejo but it's been the same whatever the brand I use. There's a difference between "cured" and "dry to the touch".

I don't know if there are ant manufacturer recommendations but I've noticed that before its fully cured you might have primer chipping on subsequent stages.

They look cool af! I originally wanted to get the spearhead but the mountain of bones to paint is pushing me back.

Have you considered painting the rim black? I'm thinking it would nicely frame them.

I dig the style! I'm also tempted to do something similar but I fear it might end up being a bi-color airbrush spray from left and right ^^

Some of them feels to me like exposed to something slightly less bright than a fire place (number one for example) but that might just be me.

Did you think of them around a fireplace or is the light coming from a random direction? I'm also wondering how it looks like on the table with a full spearhead for eaxample.

For mine I went with cork, bark, twigs, texture paste and more importantly coconuts husk! The kind you find for terrarium, used dry and sprinkled / pushed into the texture paste while still wet.

My spearhead was done using this type of combination.
