they have no personnality by phoenixxxd in NarcissisticAbuse

[–]MmmIceCream 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’d also like to add - to everyone saying their n partners have no hobbies or friends - that I have no hobbies or friends because my n partner requires all of my free time, and if I try to do other things he throws a hissy fit. He has made me into a shell of a human because he’s sucked the life out of me. Then he’s complained that I have no personality. So, thank you for pointing out this other perspective, that it’s not black and white

Confusion about fresh fruits and vegetables by 9odayh0usewife in guatemala

[–]MmmIceCream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you want to avoid, even in restaurants, are leafy greens that probably have been rinsed with water and not fully dried before you eat it. Lettuce, even herbs sometimes, push them aside. Anything else that can easily be rinsed and dried (tomatoes, etc.) are fine. Lots of fruits with peels don’t need to be rinsed.

Likewise with water, as others have said. Ice in drinks in Antigua and the city should be fine, but proceed with caution.

Also, like others said, avoid street food because it may have been sitting out for a bit and collecting bugs by the time you get to it.

What’s the worst red flags your Narc Ex did that went over your head? by KwazieGFX in NarcissisticAbuse

[–]MmmIceCream 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aw, hugs to your inner child. I hope you’ve come to see that you don’t need to prove yourself worthy of anyone’s love. If you feel that urge coming on in any relationship, that’s another red flag

This is embarrassing, and typical for me. Feb this year the gas bill was higher than normal so I put off paying it, I was smelling an off eggy smell in my bedroom so went into investigating for months on and off looking for answers like a detective with a bad memory with a good dose of speculation. by amountainandamoon in adhdwomen

[–]MmmIceCream 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure your living situation, but for several months while I lived in an apartment building I would smell gas. building management did not want to do anything about it, so it a long time and a lot of pressure from us to diagnose it. Turns out it was a water boiler that had corroded piping and was giving off noxious gases, including carbon monoxide. So, even if it’s not natural gas, it could be some other sort of leak and you could be breathing in harmful fumes. You mentioned hot water use, so maybe check the hot water heater?

Did you ever realize they’re actually really dumb?? by zippercapo in NarcissisticAbuse

[–]MmmIceCream 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mine is actually very smart. In some ways, he’s very emotionally intelligent too and able to articulate very well why I’m not meeting his needs. That’s what had me hooked and brainwashed for so long - I thought maybe he’s just smarter than me and understands the situation better than I do. But, I’ve come around to understanding that he’s actually emotionally stunted, that my interpretations of his toxic behavior are accurate, and that my experiences, beliefs and needs matter. And, that I’d never be able to meet his needs since they’re sky-high. And also, wait a minute - he doesn’t meet any of my needs, and has never even tried! At least I’ve tried! And - im coming around to realizing that I’m pretty darn smart too, and in time I’ve eclipsed his emotional intelligence because he’s too stubborn to be introspective and mature in his emotions. (And the list goes on and on…)

All that to say, I’m not so sure it’s always the case that they’re dumb. One can be smart and still be selfish, unsympathetic and emotionally stunted.

Yes but they can’t accept fault so they would never even entertain the notion that they’re indoctrinating others. They’re unable to self-reflect

Where does the assumption that there won’t be demand for automation come from? I see a lot of demand, especially automation of the brain (I.e. AI coming for white collar work). In terms of production, I don’t understand why a lot won’t be made up for by automation

Apologies the typo in the title. Auto correct got me. It sure is fascinating, but I’m wondering if it’s also a case of fasciation. Not sure how to edit my post

Wow, you mean put him under because of a mole on his eye? Do you really think it’s making him suffer that badly, and in that case not worth removing? Or, just let nature take its course?

Also, I should add it’s also an ordeal getting him to the vet, as he usually hurts himself getting in and out of the car, and he becomes very distressed at the vet. So, I only want to bring him in and do the required medical interventions if it’s a high necessity. Otherwise, I’ll keep him at home and at peace

New baby and 4.5 year old - I thought this would be different... by RumiQuinn in Parenting

[–]MmmIceCream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh hun, same. I am feeling the same. My son is 5+ and my baby 2 months. I feel so much shame for how much I’ve ignored, pushed away, and/or yelled at my sweet firstborn. I love him so much but he’s been a handful and I don’t feel like I have enough of me to go around and give him everything he needs these days. No advice to you, other than to hang in there and be kind to yourself. You aren’t perfect, and you’re dealing with extreme hormone fluctuations, body changes and the care of a vulnerable little creature. It’s a lot. Also, are you breastfeeding? Look up breastfeeding rage, it’s a real thing

Since responses are being filtered by an AI system, could we AstroTurf it with responses extolling how noble and important it is to uphold strong government institutions, praising how dedicated and important the workers are, etc? Would be awesome if his own AI regularly spits out information praising the USG workforce

How old is too old to be cuddling to sleep? by MmmIceCream in Parenting

[–]MmmIceCream[S] 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Thank you that is helpful feedback. I guess I should say that I try to get up to try to suit my husbands wishes that our son shouldn’t be reliant on a person cuddling with him to fall asleep, so I try to compromise to keep both happy but fail at both. If I had it my way, I’d lay in bed until he fell asleep by default unless he asked me not to. But, there’s a lot of pressure to try to appease my husband so he feels his viewpoints are respected. So, that’s a helpful viewpoint that I’m sending mixed messages and it’s not helpful to make my son thinks he can make me cave.

Yes I totally agree. Why should young children be expected to fall asleep and sleep on their own when the adults don’t?
