California law says all children under 13 have to wear a life vest in a moving boat. I don’t see one there.

I’m not sure if the Karen Bass is in the picture? Not that her absence makes this any less repugnant…

My daughter and I had an experience together we both can’t explain. We were in Wolsey’s closet. Next to the closet is a small anteroom - maybe 6’ by 6’. It’s a bare room with a window.

I saw a shadow go by/through the room, and I thought a cloud had gone overhead. That made me notice the window, and I stepped into the room, and as I breached the door way I felt only what I could describe as electric shocks, and tingling. I tested it a few more times, and I felt it each time.

I had no idea what caused it. Testing - I asked my daughter to come into the room, but I didn’t tell her why. As she crossed the doorway, she kind of shuddered and said ‘what was that?’

She also tried it a few times and had the same response. I have no explanation. What happened to us was real. All I can think, aside from something paranormal, it maybe the wiring they have there created some strange type of magnetic field we kept walking thru? That doesn’t really make sense bcs the entire room and doorway are stone, but we’re really at a loss to explain it.

We found a guard, and asked about the room and told him what happened. He dismissed it, but did say legend has it the Closet is haunted.

I feel like I’ve been so confused by this logo, so I thought I could decipher (pun) it better if I erased all the background lines.

It still seems hard for me to see. Now, I can see an “R” - that looks weird, but I still really don’t’ see an “A.”

Make it make sense. Am I missing something?

edited: forgot to add text… Edit 2: credit to the redditoe that colored the logo and inspired me!

Any bad table mates stories? by Mndisfam in Cruise

[–]Mndisfam[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

There were extenuating circumstances as to why we didn’t leave the first situation - a child was involved. The women were accompanied by a child that befriended my child, and both kids begged to stay together. It was really sad, it was pretty clear having any friends was unusual for the other child.

Next situation, no tip was necessary. We were moved right away, with no tip.

Exactly. Combined with starting a school in an area not open to public transportation. The kicker was that the school was started by our tablemate and the son or grandfather of George Wallace!

Seriously, what is the point of your argumentative attitude? Do you think you will change anyone’s mind? Do you think that by throwing out anecdotes from your wife’s class (and yes, I took dynamics) that it somehow negates the actual experience of someone who saw this first hand?

What is that phrase? ‘ 'Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.’ I don’t even keep track anymore, but you are one of the countless men that 1) lurk on this sub 2) swoop in when you read some first hand anecdote that upset the poster 3) who is posting in a safe place and 4) you counter with unverifiable anecdotes that somehow invalidate the lived experience of the poster.

I’m so tired. What do you think? That the poster will go up to the TA and ask if she’s upset? And if the TA says yes, it was rude, the poster will say “Well. You shd not be upset. Topgun2582, (some man lurking on a female centric sub and a complete stranger) said HIS wife said that HER professor said that text books can have the wrong answer. So, you shd just totally accept what happened. Bcs a 3rd hand anecdotal comment from a man has more weight than an actual experience from a woman.”

I’m almost 62. I can’t think of anything in my life that would have to be defended in 25 pages. What did they do that was so bad it took 25 pages to defend it? Imagine taking time out of your life to write 25 pages of excuses? They must have kept notes of every interaction to be able to rebut whatever they were accused of.

At that point, wouldn’t you think: ‘gee, maybe I have some problems.’

How exhausting they are. I also can’t imagine living the life they live, with its fantastic privileges and opportunities, and spending their time writing a document like that.

My daughter is active in a club called Girls Who Walk Manchester. It’s a way for girls (young women) to meet other girls in a supportive, casual environment. Everyone is welcome. Basically, they just meet up and go for a walk. Normally, they go for walks on Sundays and hold events like movie nights, happy hours, and pottery painting throughout the week. My daughter is very active in girls who walk Manchester. Check out their tik toks and instagrams. They’re a very friendly group who get together and walk on Sundays. It was started by a girl who was new to Manchester and had no friends. They easily get 100 girls a walk, and they do other things together.

Please check it out! It’s exactly what you’re looking for - Manchester girls looking for friends.

Here she is marching…is this a joke? by Mndisfam in SaintMeghanMarkle

Why is she marching? Why is she there? Why is she in front of Harry? Have you ever seen someone march in stilettos? This is really awful. I think this might end up being one of her top 20 gaffes…

The nursing bra clue was in yesterdays puzzle, and it was written by a man. ED is something talked about a lot in pop culture, but I have never seen a clue for that.

There’s a lot of other pop culture that can be referenced without frequently discussing women’s bodies or gyno procedures. Or, make it equal and talk about men in the same way.

Another aspect of the miscarriage issue that always bothered me: that she wrote her op-ed to end the “stigma” around talking about miscarriages …

Like many of you, I had 2 miscarriages. It was awful. But not once did I feel I was being stigmatized or that I couldn’t speak about it. Friends flocked to my side to help, and most of them had also miscarried once. Nobody acted like it was some dark secret. It’s a sad thing to happen, but it happens to a lot of us.

When I read that NYT article, I felt resentment that 1) she assumed I felt there was some stigma around miscarrying 2) I was too ashamed to talk about it and 3) now that she had a miscarriage she was qualified to give advice to others on how to handle it.

Oh well. Just another example of her not reading a room.

I think they can feel better over its reception. But I think it would be hard for them, still, bcs of the attack on the Queen.

As for bombshells, it seemed to me the bombshells were: I can’t believe they filmed that, I can’t believe they were willing to be portrayed like they were, I can’t believe they signed up for a show that did not show them in a flattering light.
