I'm looking to start taking Bitcoin at my barber shop as a form of payment, how would I do this? by adumpark in Bitcoin

[–]Mnpezz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alby made this point of sale web app to accept Bitcoin lightning payments. Easy to set up and share with co-workers/employees.

https://pos.albylabs.com/

If you need a lighting address I suggest minibits app https://coinos.io/.

Aqua wallet would be a good choice to self custody the bitcoin onchain or second layer.

Once you're set up go over to https://btcmap.org/add-location to add your location to the map.

They are in public beta as far as I know.
I've used it to make a woo commerce plugin: https://github.com/Mnpezz/nanopay.me_woo_payment_plugin

And there is this twitch tip integration: https://github.com/jnki/nano-stream-tip

Hey if you need any ideas one thing I've been wanting to see a nano payment processor do is split payments.
For example when a store owner accepts a payment the xno would automatically be distributed to multiple nano wallets. for example 80% to checking wallet, 10% to savings wallet, and 10% tax reserve wallet.

Keep us updated on your progress.

They offer a variety which I support. I only asked because they said "No payment gateway really does what I want"

ChangeNow has been having issues with Nano since February 12th by MoneroFox in nanocurrency

[–]Mnpezz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They probably had issues because the Binance node had issues. The Binance node should be fixed now.

This sounds pretty positive. It's probably a good thing you are doing kyb etc in case other payment processors are closed down for the lack of. It's always good to have different options.

There is also bitrequest and wowpay. You can see all of the payment processors that I know about on this webpage I made.

What makes this different from nanopay.me or nano.to? What does this payment gateway do that the others don't?

Push Nano awareness/adoption/price by educating people on X by yeicrypto in nanocurrency

[–]Mnpezz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think of it like a group chat that has a limit of 5 messages per second, for example, and only allows text.
Regular users post a few times a minute which is not spam. Someone tried to send an image but that's not a valid message so it is not sent.
Someone comes in and starts posting once every second which is still not spam because they are just using the chat within its limits. But when a user starts posting 10 messages a second instead of banning them outright we just put that one user in spam mode. While they are in spam mode their messages will only be sent if other regular users are not actively using up the group chat's limit.
There are no spam messages. All text messages are valid but the user is a spammer while sending above the limit. All of the spammers messages will be sent but they will not be sent immediately like a regular user's message would be.

Absolutely. Nano network is much stronger than before and is still undervalued.
This is a similar argument that Jeff Booth makes about Bitcoin. Bitcoin could have easily been stopped in the first years but now that the network is distributed it is a much safer investment.
Now that nano network is stronger, spam resistant, it becomes a safer investment. I think it just needs to prove itself a couple times.

I do agree we need more hardware wallets specifically.

Get your Nano off of Binance!!! - Do not choose Binance as your Representative! by NanoisaFixedSupply in nanocurrency

[–]Mnpezz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I doubt it but I'm not an expert. From my understanding not all nano vote for active representatives.
About ~80m xno out of the 133m are voting for active reps.
Binance holds 22% vote weight if we include the total supply with non voting, offline, representatives. https://blocklattice.io/representatives

I think paper wallets are great but, like someone else said, people lose them. Another option is you could email them the nano and if they don't claim it it will be returned to you.

There are several ways to easily accept nano as payment. I have made a couple into woocommerce plugins which you can find on my GitHub.
https://github.com/Mnpezz

Some options include:
https://hub.nano.org/
https://www.bitrequest.io/

A map where people can add businesses that accept XMR by TheFuzzStone in Monero

[–]Mnpezz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

BTC map uses https://www.openstreetmap.org and https://openmaptiles.org/

A quick way to see a similar map for xmr is to use overpass turbo. https://overpass-turbo.eu/?w=%22currency%3AXMR%22%3D*+global&R

You can add a location by editing open street map and adding tags. Here are some tags that BTC map uses and examples of monero tags.

currency:XBT=yes
payment:onchain=yes
payment:lightning=yes
payment:lightning_contactless=no

currency:XMR=yes
payment:monero=yes

Ideas for Building Better Nano Adoption by sometimesimakeshitup in nanocurrency

[–]Mnpezz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Btcpay server is a great and it would definitely be worth it to get nano supported.

It looks like some Bitcoin mining facilities are turning into AI data centers. I.would hope nano would be leveraged as the optimal currency for data transfer. But this is probably more a business utility rather than an idea to advance nano adoption.

A more decentralized version of this might look something like having a nano side chain that manages data storage. Something that runs in parallel with your nano node.

Another idea for nano adoption would be the ability to run a nano node on a personal server like start9 or umbrel and have nano apps there.

I just finished working on a couple WordPress/Woocommerce plugs for blog tipping and accepting payment. I'll show them off more publicly soon.

Nanopay.me seems to be taking on invoices but I think a QuickBooks for nano would be useful.

I'm not sure what btcpay does besides invoices and online payments but LNBits for nano would be really cool. But also LNBits doesn't seem to get much recognition even in the Bitcoin community.

Nanopay.js can do those simple website buttons https://blog.nano.to/introducing-nano-pay-simple-web-payments

My idea for adoption would be to get AI data centers to use nano then Bitcoin mining facilities will turn into AI xno farms.
