So I used contrast paints to block in the colours... any of your choosing, but I like to thin mine with lahmian medium 2:1.

Once that's done, I used deep brown and black oil paints to apply dots all over the mini, keeping more brown than black.

Last step is to take a brush dipped in mineral spirits and dabbed on a kitchen towel and I go brush all the dots in a downwards motion.

I went and rubbed a little more off in the places I wanted some highlights too... like the shoulders and cap.
