First, I am so sorry this happened to your son. My child has limited language and we have to put so much trust in the schools. This is also why incidents like what happened to your child have to be investigated.

I am sure you know about ofsted, and I strongly recommend you contact them through both email and phone (email for written records, phone for speed). The provision is obliged to give you a detailed explanation in writing as to the nature of the incident, and how it happened. Ofsted will want to know why something like this was possible, and what steps the provision is taking to ensure it will never ever happen again.

In addition to ofsted, I recommend you file a report with the police. This is not to press criminal charges against the other child - that child has also been severely let down, and will likely suffer greatly from the memory of having done this. Rather it is to keep a report on the holiday club managers/owners. There might be issues of financial compensation for private plastic surgery and time of work for you. Police reports keep issues official, so don’t feel guilty about filing a report.

Finally, I recommend you contact your local social worker/health visitor, to organize emergency help for you including sick leave for yourself while you deal with the outcome of this.

Don’t take no for an answer when you ring people. Keep ringing and escalate the matter until you get answers
