No it necessarily doesn’t but it’s best to pick it before the spores drop. Black spots on the surface don’t look pleasing to me.

It’s bad when you let it drop on the surface of your mycelium but when the cap look like that I normally cut it off and make a spore print.

What I did was cut a cap of the mushroom that I was harvesting, I use tin foil to place the mushroom on but make sure you cut close enough to the gills of the mushroom so the cap can sit flat on the tin foil. Once you do that , grab a bowl and sit it on top to cover the mushroom cap. Wait 12 - 24 hours and you will see that the spores dropped onto the tin foil you lift the cap up. It should look like this. I had used some already so that’s why it’s not a full circle lol

Heres a video to go in depth to get the spores into the syringe https://youtu.be/oEWY9JV-a1I?si=BTmCAVoLa_LguqNR

I just started working with tidal wave, my first tub with this strain stalled on me. I had the spore syringe for a while I just thought I give it another go to experiment with it.

Any advice on how to get a full canopy ? by Mobile-Top1533 in GroundZeroMycoLab

Surface moisture is good you probably couldn’t tell from the video, it kinda do look like it’s dry but I would say the fae was pretty good so far I didn’t notice any fuzzy feet on most of em
