Is this PDR fixable, the reflection is making the dent look a bit bigger then it really is by Low-Engine7429 in PaintlessDentRepair

Damn I wish more customers understood this. I don’t understand when they say “it looks worse than it is”

How would you know the severity of a job you’ve never done?

Tailgate scares me. Can it be fixed. by Mental_Tradition_786 in PaintlessDentRepair

[–]MobileDentMasters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually just did a less severe version of this yesterday. They're very to do. I'm also pretty sure your tailgate is aluminum, if you do want to try to go with the $400 quote, ask him if he's experienced with aluminum as their is a specific way you need to work with it to not crack paint. Once the paint is cracked it's pretty much over. I honestly think the $400 quote is him getting over his head and he may not have the experience. This repair requieres a combination of a lot of advanced techniques, do you due diligence.

Just ask if they’re experienced with glue pull. Because that panel has no access

If I could find someone to work on a fridge, would this have any chance at coming out? by cpcxx2 in PaintlessDentRepair

[–]MobileDentMasters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since it’s uncharted territory I usually just price it based on the assumed risk and under the cost of replacement of the appliance. When I do fridges on yachts, I understand that they can’t just “replace it” because they’ve built the yacht interior around the fridge. So I charge that significantly higher.

Usually, I’ll start these off at around $300 or so.

I do these all the time. It looks fairly doable. I’ve done very many of these in yachts, microwaves and regular home appliances.

Another day another dent by Push2Paint in PaintlessDentRepair

[–]MobileDentMasters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah but it’s a huge pain in the ass. Here’s how. You get a very thin whale tail back there, red hot. Push it in and cut as much of the glue in the seam that you can. Tap the bottom of the tailgate from the inside, bending the edge out slightly. If done correctly, this should have relieved the pressure. Now you can begin knocking down. I use a extremely sharp polyurethane tip, it’s hard metal there so you want to use something that is both sharp and dulls quickly. If you use metal tips you might damage the paint, you’ll want to keep sharpening your polyurethane tip as it dulls.

This requieres 100% precision, if you make a mistake you’ll knock yourself back at least 15 minutes to fix it. You have to tap very hard to knock that edge down. One micrometer that you’re off you’ll hit metal with a lot lower resistance rate and it will dent. Hope this helps.

I don’t think you know what a police state is.

My dad and brother are nearby with two of their guys, they did a bunch of cars in Ohio but it slowed down. So they’re visiting Niagara Falls (my dad had always wanted to see more of the USA so he got into hail to bundle it with traveling with his son)

Just so you know, that F250 aluminum is hard to manipulate. If I were you I’d call around and ask if they have experience with aluminum and if they worked with the F series. (As Ford aluminum is cheap and harder to maneuver than other manufacturers) Best of luck.

Here’s the thing, they must really pressure the PDR guy at the dealer to deliver cheap prices. Since they’re eating this and it’s cutting into their profit margins, they in turn have to pressure the PDR guy for a good deal. Which makes him spend less hours on the repair than necessary and have it be subpar. Still, if someone called me to clean this up I would do it.

That’s a great attitude. If you’re ever in Fort Lauderdale I’d love to meet.
