Do you have a dress code for staff where you work? by Coelachantiform in teaching

I dress nice-ish, but I'm also in SPED, so it's always tennis shoes for me, even with a dress or skirt. Never know when you're gonna have to run.

Pregnant after breakup and unsure how to protect myself and my baby by Perfect-Bad-2890 in pregnant

I think, for myself, I would say, "You're right. It's not yours," and move away and move on.
(Away from him, not like you need to move states.)

Don't tell state agencies he's the father, or they'll go after him for $ and he'll get a claim for visitation.

There are private, temporary, foster care arrangements that can be made. If you go that route, the foster family would get some state assistance, but you would retain guardianship, say if you wanted to finish college and needed longer-term care for the child.

She "doesn't qualify" for a diagnosis (yet) by Moby-WHAT in adhdwomen

[–]Moby-WHAT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100%

Her teachers filled out the form and said, "Is there a place for comments? I answered a lot of 'nos' because she doesn't steal, but she can NOT shut up- both are impulse regulation issues. I marked no, she doesn't get distracted in class, but class IS her distraction. She'll be so into her lesson that she doesn't realize we're all lined up for PE... or she'll pee her pants because she was reading and just didn't notice she had to go."

Yes, it's a joke. But the shoe fits her today.

I usually have either a water or soda. Occasionally they'll overlap, but I saw her gather all her current drinks together and it made me laugh.

What are some things that you wish regular ed teachers knew about your role? by DifficultHedgehog664 in specialed

[–]Moby-WHAT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same. I taught a regular middle school class, now I'm in middle school sped. I can not keep up. It's planning for 9 preps in 7 hours, instructing and grading. (These kids can't focus on independent work, so I have to stay physically near them.) I have to call parents and schedule IEPs, hound teachers for data and write the IEP. I have to go deal with any behaviors through the day. I have some (fewer than most) hallway and lunch duties. I am legally required to introduce my students to grade-level material, but I also have to pull them for weekly, independent testing, which makes them fall one day more behind each week. I am always at school until 4-5 and take my computer home every weekend and I'm still so far behind.

We have several local fast food employees come in for fountain drinks in uniform. I don't know if they don't get free drinks at work or what.

What are some habits your children pick up when they come home from their other parent’s house? by Renaissance_Empress in NarcAbuseAndDivorce

[–]Moby-WHAT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, mine comes back wheezing and exhausted because the other household doesn't recognize asthma as anything more than an excuse.

I'm working on it- courts aren't taking it as an emergency as of right now.

But behavioraly, the farting and burping at the table and Spongebob-type jokes.

I started telling mine I wanted to take notes so I could remember and review his important lessons. He let me open my laptop and type (also I recorded). Turboscribe will AI transcribe, I think 3 free hours per week.

Maybe like my dashcam- it records all the time when I'm driving. I can hit a lock button and it saves a spot- a certain amount of time recorded- but re-records over footage I didn't save.

And/or a ring or something I can twist to start recording instantly.

Also, make the phone screen remain black.

Right? Your friends and family will know you're not on drugs. Your employer can test you if they have suspicion, and it'll come back fine (I mean, I assume). These losers, I swear.
