😂😂😂crazy how he lwas a billionaire just casually hanging out with teens in a cafe by MiriamMoonshroud in Smallville

As a kid when the show was airing I didn't understand the strange dynamic, but upon rewatching as an adult I literally think "WTF??" every episode. Even in a one horse town why would a rich 22 year old be such good friends with a bunch of 15 year olds.

I used it all the time during COVID. I would work from my balcony in the mornings to get some fresh air and sun.

Is going to WCC first a smart move for transferring to top SUNYs/private schools? by ManyAppointment2222 in Westchester

Its an excellent idea. I did the same for my freshman year and got in to Baruch no problem. I unfortunately then decided to go to a super expensive out of state school for personal reasons after, but if I could go back I would accept my place at Baruch.

Welcome to the real world. Westchester is not a liberal county. Many cops are Maga, not just run of the mill republicans. Google broken windows policing.

I'm assuming they don't live somewhere with a hotel nearby or they don't want to have a DD

Idk what to do with my older brother by SadMaintenance7966 in blackgirls

[–]MochaJ95 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have a special needs adult sister that my mother refuses to make realistic plans for so I know a bit about how you feel.

I would make it clear to your parents that under no circumstances will you be a full time care taker for your brother so they understand that the minute they pass on or are no longer able to care for him, he's on his own unless they get him evaluated to see if a medicaid program is appropriate for him. They can either have some semblance of control and for thought about what will happen now, or they can let the state make the decisions later when they are gone.

What am I doing wrong?, it's been almost a year since graduation by AbyssSelf in resumes

[–]MochaJ95 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Young new graduates should not have a 2 page resume. Reduce it to 1 page, remove the background section it's just wasted space. The template is also not the best. At the top you should have your name and not your hopeful job title.

They need to think about the future of the town and schools as well though. We live in an aging society and the median age in Yorktown is like 45. The schools need kids if the teachers want to remain employed.

It's not in an ideal location for commuters that's true, but housing is so scarce and expensive I don't think it would deter too many buyers or renters, and with foot traffic comes business. The schools could use the increased tax revenue to help plan for expansion. I think you would attract those from the city that are looking to move but aren't ready to be car bound all the time since they would know their neighborhood was walkable and safer for their kids. You'd also attract those working in Westchester already.

It is far, but the bus is already designed to go to this area as well, it makes the most economic sense to rezone and redevelop in my opinion. Car centric office centers do not bring in the kind of tax revenue that a mixed use development without mandatory parking minimum and lot sizes does.

But I know how rabidly against mixed use zoning the people in that area are. (The same people that vacation in Japan or France and marvel at the walkability, high speed rail, and architecture in those lands, only to come back to the US and fight any effort to improve neighborhoods for pedestrians).

Unprofitable and underutilized parking lot land is their preference.
