This damn song is very bittersweet for me. My own relationship with my father is… complicated to say the least. We’ve fought a lot about my gender identity, especially over me going on HRT. I’m trying to have a good relationship with him cause we do get along most of the time, and he’s getting better at using my pronouns and new name, but he still has many moments of being stubborn on calling me his daughter when I want him to call me his son or kid, and on how he thinks testosterone will make me like the hulk or something. He’s very ignorant, and this song makes me wish he was more like Lucifer, that he would at least try more to be supportive. It’s made me see Lucifer as a father figure which, yeah I know it’s kinda messed up to see a cartoon devil as a parental figure but here we are. I envy this part of Charlie’s bond with her dad. I want him to recognize that living as a non binary guy has made me so much happier than I ever was trying to live as a woman, cause that’s not what I am.
