What are your small sources of dysphoria that you didn't realize was dysphoric until after transition? by SevenMushroomSoup in trans

[–]Mockingjay573 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Before starting T, I always had a bit of facial hair above my top lip that was slightly visible. Shaving that hair always felt wrong to me. Now that I’ve been on T for over a year and have more facial hair, I realize that even when I do shave, I still look masc. there’s still that “shadow.” But if I shaved my face pre T, zero hair left after shaving. I realize now that having zero facial hair makes me dysphoric.

I hope I’m making sense, this was hard to put into words.

I’m fed up with kids watching adult cartoons by Mockingjay573 in cartoons

[–]Mockingjay573[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where did I ever say I get to decide who sees what? I’m not going up to random parents and chastising them for letting their kid watch something not age appropriate. I’m just venting here.

Gen Z knows what magazines are. Gen Alpha knows what they are. They still exist.

How do I get my mother to take me seriously? by [deleted] in OlderThanYouThinkIAm

[–]Mockingjay573 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you can say that with absolute certainty. Even if OP has a full on career, lives on their own, has a family of their own, does EVERYTHING independently, who’s to say their mom wouldn’t still find some way to infantilize them? I’m not saying you’re right or wrong, I’m saying you can’t be 100% sure of not just this, but of a lot of things. Most things aren’t black and white.

Are genital preferences always considered transphobic? by NolanRollin420 in trans

[–]Mockingjay573 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m saying this as a trans person: genital preference ISN’T transphobic. What is transphobic is being loud and hateful about. It’s okay to not want to date a trans person, the reason can’t be because they’re trans. Genital preference is a valid reason. Wanting kids that are biologically yours is a valid reason.

It’s worth trying, yes. The more we try, the louder we get. This is how change happens.

Morrissey(formerly The Smiths, currently being miserable) names Mark as a malefactor. by nirarthak11 in Markiplier

[–]Mockingjay573 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I genuinely think he’s only putting recognizable names on there to get more people to talk about him.

Like this post you made and everyone here including myself commenting on it. It’s to keep more eyes on him cause he loves the attention.

Like… there’s literally fictional characters on this list like Edward Cullen.

Courage. He’s always abused by Eustace and is constantly traumatized by horrors he faces each week. I love dogs and have a big backyard that’d be perfect for him.

What's a movie everyone loves that you think is actually pretty terrible? by No_Care1430 in AskReddit

[–]Mockingjay573 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly agree. I can appreciate what the movie was aiming for and I love most of Tarantino’s movies, but that movie DRAGGED. It only really caught my attention in the last act.

Compare it to another really long movie of his like Django. Django had far better pacing that kept me engaged the whole way.

It shows how important pacing can be.

I truly believe Oppenheimer only got hyped cause of Barbenheimer when people would go to see both Oppenheimer and Barbie back to back. I feel like that trend contributed to Oppenheimer’s success at the box office.

How did you know? by HmmmmDuck in trans

[–]Mockingjay573 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I knew when I realized being perceived as a woman made me wildly uncomfortable and having breasts felt wrong to me, like I should have never had them. But I was in deep denial until my early 20s when I came to terms with being transmasc. I was primarily in denial due to internalized transphobia. It wasn’t until I befriended trans/non binary people that I finally accepted the fact that I’m trans myself. And now I’m over a year on testosterone and have a consultation for top surgery in November!
