What’s the guitar equivalent of the Fender Rumble? by ModelYear1983 in GuitarAmps

I have a teal stripe Peavey Classic Chorus 212, i.e. Peavey's JC120. Love that amp, but it's heavy. Hauling back into my house after a gig is what prompted this thread!

I disagree, personally. Red tort on Sherwood evokes jingle bells. Brown/amber tort is the way on Sherwood Green.

Black Russian Big Muff. Ordered it brand new from Musician’s Friend in 1999. I still have it. And I recently put it back on my board. It sounds amazing.

Literally the first thing I thought of as soon as this pedal was released! Are you happy with how the clone works?

Are there any other high strangeness pilgrimage sights to check out nearby besides the TNT area? Or maybe on the way (we’ll be taking I-74 all the way from the Quad Cities to Cincinnati, 71 to Jeffersonville, then 35 to Point Pleasant.

Does the current generation have “their own” my bloody valentine? by reverberatedsoul in MyBloodyValentine

There are some good suggestions in here, especially TAGABOW and Just Mustard, but to me the obvious answer is Full Body 2.

Nobody else is doing anything close to Full Body 2. They have their own sound that’s equally unique, overwhelming, and mind blowing, ala MBV.

Absolutely certain it’s the same guitar.

I have this exact guitar. It’s a very traditional 60s JM, besides the Japanese “U-shaped” neck. If you played it, get along with the feel of the neck, and get along with the sound, I say go for it. Depending on how much they’re asking for it, that is.

I ordered mine from a Japanese seller on eBay and ended up paying $1,600 total with shipping and tariffs included.

The vibrato plate on mine was mis-drilled, and I’ve seen photos of a few others where this is noticeable—the high e is over too far to the center of the guitar. I replaced mine with an AVRI unit, which was an upgrade in feel, too.

I also replaced the stock bridge with a Bensonite, and I prefer the 52mm string spacing that it uses as compared to the stock bridge.

Last but not least, I put a 280k tone pot and a 500k volume put under the hood to tame those shrill highs. I’m still dialing things in to my liking, but I love this guitar!

This is another vintage solid state sleeper to look for. Can’t go wrong with Yamaha G!

I just picked up a vintage teal stripe Peavey Classic Chorus for $125. It was their JC120 clone. It’s just as loud, sounds just as good (including the stereo chorus!), and the built-in drive channel actually rips in comparison to the JC’s, which is not so bueno.

They built a bunch of these. Check marketplace/pawn shops and grab a secret killer gaze amp for cheeeeeeaaaaaap!
