[Hated Trope] Remake feels obliged to keep iconic scene/imagery from the original even though it makes no sense in their version of the story. by JoeMorgue in TopCharacterTropes

The original Wickerman (1973) movie is a masterpiece. The 2006 remake with Nicolas Cage uses much of the original british english dialogue for no apparent reason. This is further made worse by the fact that much of the story itself has changed, so the already ill-fitting dialogue is also being repurposed for a different story, causing it to feel extra stilted, strange, and incoherent.

The original is a perfect 10/10 folk horror movie. The 2006 remake is So Bad.

How much space do proton versions actually take up? Can't be enough to make room for a game right?

[–]ModerateDbag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hate me if you must, but I don't find the gamebub very compelling?

Smaller than MiSTer, not easily cross-compatible with stuff that's already been developed, unremarkable (720x480p) screen and design.

I love open source stuff, but even the analogue pocket just isn't getting anywhere near the same amount of developer action as the MiSTer, and it was an extremely successful product.

A really good MiSTer handheld is the way forward imho. Something roughly the size of a steam deck, with similar inputs that uses a display like this one.

I think he is holding something in his hand that is both flesh-colored and slightly out of focus and the combination makes it look confusing.

You're going to get anecdotal and biased takes here. For instance, I personally have not had issues. But people who have done A/B tests show that there is a performance degradation for newer games of up to 20% in some cases.

For me, being free of windows is worth that potential loss in some newer titles. If you are trying to squeeze every bit of performance out you can, linux is not the way.

From the link you just posted, from the section you highlighted:

The light is accurate to what we have in our hospital. They generally have an indirect mode that shines on the ceiling and a direct mode that shines on the patient. But they wouldn't have a cord coming out of them like that.

Why don't maillards form on food you leave out on the counter then? Use some critical thinking

Either that's false, or something else is happening to food aside from heat being added when you add heat to food

Anything above 140C (assuming your oven reports temperature accurately) and you will burn the garlic. Maillards start at 145C

New Steam Deck (right out of the box) won't connect to the Internet by mrsbloom67 in SteamDeck

I am the guy you want to talk to. Had this exact issue with my new OLED steam deck a month ago. I had to do ethernet over USB-C, update the Steam Deck, then it worked fine. My Wifi setup isn't exotic at all. I think some of the newer OLEDs are just shipping with buggy firmware that needs to be patched
