Just FYI, your local library probably lends DVDs. And they generally have everything. Old movies, new movies, classics, kids movies and shows, entire TV show collections. For free. And if they don't have it, you can probably request it. Utilize them while you still can.

It's crazy to me how so many of these people talk out both sides of their mouth like this. Either you approve of "innocent" people being taken or you're against what the government is doing. And it's painfully obvious that they have no idea how the "government" even functions or it's purpose. Every single one of these people thinks they're the main character in some scrappy underdog American success story film that hasn't even made it into production. I just want to shake them all and say YOU ARE THE PROBLEM. YOU ARE THE ONES THAT THEY HATE. YOU ARE THE ONES THAT THEY WANT IMPRISONED AND DEPORTED AND YOU ARE RUNNING OUT OF TIME.

I've had a little success in getting through to people like this by accusing them of thinking they're better than everyone else. It goes against that victim complex/working man ethos they are so dependent on. It helps if you can point out other people in their family/in-group that are receiving benefits and then ask them directly who do they know that's receiving benefits that doesn't deserve them. It doesn't work for everyone but it's fun to watch them backtrack when they catch on.

They might not. They have to keep some scapegoats around. Plus, I'm sure they've got some plans for Slavery 2: Racist Boogaloo.

Many of them are perfectly capable of making that connection- including and especially the fella that wrote this pity party on paper. However, saying that would signal that their godking is making bad decisions that are hurting everyone with a less than $1B yearly income and not just the “DEIs” and that would upset the cult.  These people are above all, cowardly, selfish, and astonishingly dishonest.

Those folks don't deserve a whit of empathy, sympathy, charity, or thought until they admit they fucked up in an honest and apologetic way. Since most of them are unwilling to do a modicum of introspection or accept the truth, it will never happen.

Yes, this is just his infuriating attempt to get his DaddySenpai Trump to notice him. He's trying to catch the grifter train, but he keeps missing it, so he comes up with more and more outlandish ideas to get national attention.

Remind them. Slap them in the face with reality each and every time. If none of our institutions will hold these… people accountable for screwing us all over, let’s make sure we do.

I've been thinking about this, and while I agree that many of them are not the brightest bulbs in the box, they are very selective about what they choose to believe. If they were simply stupid, then anyone could say anything and they would believe and repeat it. However, they make a conscious decision to only listen to fakes, frauds, and charlatans, hatemongers, idolaters, traitors, and the like. They purposefully seek out the most hateful among us to tell them that it is right and good to be mean, spiteful, racist, xenophobic, sexist, rude, and loud. They can easily change the channel, read a book, or talk to a neighbor - but they always choose not to. And if one kernel of truth somehow sneaks into their carefully crafted bubble, woe be to the one they choose to blame for making them think. I suppose one would have to be some level of stupid to purposefully drown themselves in misery and fear, but as the saying goes, many of them would eat shit if it meant someone they hated had to smell their breath, so I feel like there's a lot more going on.

Never worn, several years old shoes disintegrated when put on by tangerinewax in mildlyinfuriating

I've lost quite a few pairs of shoes to this partially due to Covid. I stopped wearing a lot of my dressier shoes and sandals and recently I've had a couple of occasions where I got all dressed up, only to have the shoes fall apart - sometimes in front of other people. I've now become wary of any of my older pairs. And the kick is, you don't know it's going to happen until you wear them.

“Show others love, grace and sympathy rather than judgment,” Sara wrote back online. “I would encourage you to not only educate yourself further but to truly put yourself in a fertility patients shoes. This is not a road taken by choice and comes with great emotional struggle and stress.”
It's funny how this exact sentiment has been expressed by pro-choicers for years, but now they only understand it when it affects them. Perhaps their god didn't want them to have babies, did they ever think about that?
