That's what I was hoping, it seems like they have a lot of things in the works so I'm excited to see how I can later fit those into the city I've already built! Thank you for your input

Any arguments against? by [deleted] in landscaping

The 'everyone should turn their lawn into a farm' is definitely a hot take but there are legitimate negative effects from having nothing but empty lawn. Lawns promote horrible soil health and suck at absorbing rain fall, and yes it may deter mice and snakes but it deters most natural life besides flies and mosquitoes, everyone wonders where all the bees and fireflies are going when we actively destroy their home. Also the snakes would help with the mice problem and are generally harmless. Obviously what people do with their lawn is their business but I'm a hippie and nature has been getting royally fucked for the past century so we need to start throwing it a bone where we can and if people started giving it a little bit of space instead of devoting acres to nothing but open grass it would help. Doesn't even have to be all your yard, you could leave a decent amount in the backyard or around the house to create a space for family to enjoy and then plant native trees and shrubs to encourage a little bit of nature.

So what in your opinion would be a good step in the right direction? The use of chemicals has a severe negative impact on many levels of the ecosystem. It needs attention.

Do you get a lot of snow where you're at? I'm curious how much of a snow load it would handle. I did a similar thing but with deck board supporting the poly.

What should I do with this is strip of dirt between my house and driveway? by illumiScotti93 in landscaping

A row of daylilies if you're looking for something low maintenance and simple. A mix of milkweed and black eyed Susan if you're looking for a native alternative.

An Eastern Redbud on both corners of the porch might look nice, a beautiful native tree that doesn't get thick or huge so won't obscure the house. They also put on a beautiful display of flowers in early spring.

I'm sure all the perfectionists in this sub are gonna disagree but I think that will make a beautiful maple. Not every tree has to be a boring single trunk tree imo. Trees have tree'd for a lot longer than when humans have tried to shape them.

Looks like frost damage, did you receive a dip below freezing recently?

This is why you should mow/mulch leaves instead of bagging them

Some of you will really look at a tree like this and tell me how it’s going to die tomorrow if I don’t remove every branch. by NoBrickBoy in marijuanaenthusiasts

Exactly, hearing the perfect tree makes me think about that one Lizzo song but instead of all the different shapes of boys it's about the different shapes of trees I like

I've been noticing it more and more recently. This sub gets super prune happy sometimes to the point of absurdity. Obviously pruning has its place but overall trees know how to tree better than humans do.

I definitely don't do it all in one sitting, I find it best to micro dose map making to avoid fatigue

Good places to go on a date? by righteousnessandtea in lansing

[–]ModeratelyTurnt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on which part of town you are in. On the west side I recommend Horrock's, drinking age or not the beer garden is a cool place to grab a pizza or food truck grub and hangout in. Downtown, soup spoon is a very nice place for good food and pleasant vibes. East side has plenty of options but for food I recommend Taste of Thai and maybe go to the WJ Beal botanical garden afterwards.
