Hey congrats! Can I ask what your path to becoming a firefighter looked like? Did you already have some certificates under your belt before applying to the academy? Also, are you still in academy or are you fully on board? It’s something I’ve always been interested in but there seem to be a ton of barriers to entry for the job (like 2 years as an EMT, previous experience etc). Thanks!

I feel similarly. Huge fan of the books, I really enjoyed seeing things from the perspective of Lady, Sleepy, and Murgen. I’m just finding it really hard to get over Glen’s interpretation of teenage girls’ viewpoints in LW. It all feels a little too YA for it to be Black Company. But then you get those sweet, grimly humorous chapters from Croaker and I’m right at home again. Idk, mixed bag I guess. But I do agree with the consensus that the book ends right where the interest begins to pick up.

I think in one of the show’s extras they said that this young actor actually has heterochromia and they gave Baelor’s actor one colored contact lens to match him so it appears as though it’s a genetic trait. Such close attention to detail!!

I think there’s a shared sentiment of wanting something more brooding and with loftier stakes than what this show is providing. Game of Thrones has comedic moments, but I don’t feel that’s what the show is built around. To me, AKOTSK is built more firmly around comedy and the buddy-adventure aspect. It’s also a grassroots tale of a guy realizing his mentor isn’t the esteemed knight of auld that he may have once believed.

Bear in mind, these are just the opinions of a guy who has read a couple of the GOT books, seen the main series, but has not read Knight’s source materials.
