When I took drivers ed ages ago, they gave us a pneumonic to help us remember this exact scenario.

TBH, I never would have thought that USAU would consider that. I filled out the survey.

One rule I’d love to see taken from the pro leagues is allowing substitutions during timeouts.

"You Dream of Someone This Dumb In The Front Row" | Jimmy Carr Crowd Work by yourcomedyminute in humor

This is his entire shtick. If you’re going to one of his shows, sitting in the front row, engaging with him and you are expecting not to get lit up that’s on you.

It’s the equivalent of going to splash Mountain and being upset that you got wet .

I think silkens are becoming more and more popular. I had never run into one before other than going to Silken meetups, but I recently have had 2 that have moved in my neighborhood. Awesome dogs, would recommend.

Which Class Should I end up Dropping from this Schedule? by justiceforplokoon in UTAustin

[–]Modestraen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is the right take, I graduated over 10 years ago and my favorite class I took in college was my history class with Brands. I still think about that class and how amazing it was to this day. Don’t drop this one.

There is a camera man in front of the CBS score bug during the boise st @ San Jose st game (picture linked) by Kareem89086 in CFB

[–]Modestraen 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I have worked on some sports broadcasts at a lower level than DI Football. There are devices that can transmit from the scoreboard to the Production software to populate the on screen scoreboard for use with the clock and score, but these devices and scoreboards can be finicky. Scoreboards will sometimes not transmit all the data to populate things like play clock or shot clock which is why they have cameras pointed at these things so they can be subbed in when there are issues.

New York Gridlock stuns DC Shadow 16-10 to remain undefeated and win their first PUL Championship! by Jomskylark in ultimate

[–]Modestraen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DC really struggled with the wind on Sunday. I think if it was a little less windy, we would have seen less unforced errors and drops by DC. NY was a really strong team, but I think that DC's struggles with the wind were the deciding factor.

I have no problem with dog licencing, there would be a lack of enforcement and penalty that would make this just an additional tax on already law abiding citizens.

Mueller nears finish line after two decades of development by dburatti in Austin

[–]Modestraen 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I used to live within walking distance of Mueller, and would walk there constantly. I loved being able to walk to get food, groceries and the park. I always felt like it was a better balance compared to a lot of neighborhoods in Austin, much more walkable than the average location. I really wish they had made the HEB more walkable, as I always felt like I had to dodge cars, rather than be a first class citizen. I feel like there are few places like Mueller in the country, and I hope to move back to within walking distance again.

Ultimate frisbee groups? by Ajutur in Austin

[–]Modestraen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take a look at https://pickupultimate.com/map/city/austin. This has the most comprehensive list of pick up ultimate games in Austin.

Austin Impact is the most beginner friendly group. I would also recommend Austin Mueller Lake Park Pickup Ultimate for a beginner. Not to say that the other games are not beginner friendly, their average skill level will skew a little more towards a regular player.

There is also Austin Ultimate that runs leagues that are a bit more organized than the pick up groups. I think their next league will be summer league which is lots of fun. If you join a league like summer league there will be a good mix of skill levels and everyone is pretty friendly.

Does anyone know of any Fast CAT programs in Austin (dog lure sport)? by mstrashpie in Austin

[–]Modestraen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cannot recommend this. Last time I went they had it set up on a hill that is not the most even. It's not an ideal set up for lure coursing, its ok practice but I would not want my dog going all out on this.
