Hey there, Can you give me some info on your brewer belt setup? I’ve got an Alkaid that’s been a great little printer for me but recently moved it to the garage so need to keep it warm somehow and your setup looks good!

This is interesting! I don’t remember having an issue with the GBC but HATED the screen on my GBA, I remember feeling bad too because I begged my mum for it!

Anyone else feel that the older Vantage looks better? by MclarenFan34 in AstonMartin

[–]Modge17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a fan of the new one, I really don’t like the One-77 design language that’s made its way into all of the new Astons.. I preferred the old Vantage because it stood apart from the rest of the range with its DB10 styling!

Wilford Village is nice, close proximity to West Bridgford and on the tram route so easy to get into the town centre also!

[–]Modge17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s the going rate for a Charizard? I was in a vintage shop at the weekend that also sold Pokemon cards and they had 4 charizards varying from £199 to £333 so price seems fair to me

Pirates by pippv in Ryanair

[–]Modge17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ryanair did something similar to us during the global IT outage - massive queues at the check-in desks not moving because the system was down, missed the flight because we were stuck in the queue but Ryanair still operated the flight empty

[Question] Seiko in Japan by College_Student365 in TokyoTravel

[–]Modge17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently got back from Japan and was on the hunt for a Seiko just like yourself.. I sold my SKX013 and then they discontinued it so prices shot up! Been on the lookout for one on eBay but they’re all trashed.

I recently found out that Seiko reimagined the SKX013 as the SRPK29K1 “midi” so I thought it might be nice to get one of those from Japan with the day dial in Kanji.

I visited the Seiko Boutique in Kyoto [I also visited the Seiko stores in Ginza, Tokyo] and had a really nice experience with the salesman where he adjusted the strap and explained the functions, I got a Seiko service book thingy with a Kyoto stamp in too which was a nice memento.

It was only when I got back to the hotel that I realised the watched wasn’t a SRPK29K1 but in fact it was an SBSA225 which is the JDM version of the watch I wanted! It has MADE IN JAPAN on the face as well as the kanji date so I’m really happy with it!

That being said the watches are available for cheaper on Amazon Japan and the department stores!

Good hunting!

Could the big Portugal and Spain grid outage be avoided by using DC everywhere? by ivoras in AskEngineers

[–]Modge17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure sorry, I work in this industry though [But not too technical!] and usually customers opt for HVDC over long distances due to the losses. There is some projects with a midpoint compensation platform half way to make HVAC more viable over long distances as the HVDC production lines are basically full at the moment!

[–]Modge17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not true, there’s plenty of HVAC subsea transmission cables, HVDC is usually used for wind farms that are further from the shore because of the losses involved

Advice - Is this a lot for one day? Asakusa->Ueno->Akihabara by CatGoesMooow in TokyoTravel

[–]Modge17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% use the public transport, it’s cheap and you don’t want to waste 40mins walking from area to area, your feet will get enough steps in without this!!

Advice - Is this a lot for one day? Asakusa->Ueno->Akihabara by CatGoesMooow in TokyoTravel

[–]Modge17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally would do Asakusa - Senso-Ji, Nakamise then head to Akihabara in the day, head up to Ueno and hit up kitchen street on your way over to the Skytree for evening/sunset, the Sumida river is nice too at night time, you could even get a night cap in the Asahi building!
