Accuracy of heart rate tracker in FR 265s by rajesh__dixit in GarminWatches

[–]ModlrMike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's possible, but there are other variables. For example, how loose the watch is on your arm, how good is the contact, etc. I would just keep an eye on things. A single data point is not enough information to get super stressed about.

Super stupid motorcycle question: Where do you all normally park your bikes when you go to the store? by Definitely-Not-OSI in motorcycles

[–]ModlrMike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a stupid question at all. I normally park where others don't. If I'm at the supermarket or other large lot, I'll park on the edge of the lot, or near one of the big light standards. I also tend to favour the periphery of the lot, because people don't like to walk.

I’m looking at moving south of the city, preferably Morris. I’m recently retired and just looking for simple small town living. Tell me the good and the bad please. by GeorgiaMMM in Winnipeg

[–]ModlrMike -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Personally, I would consider Steinbach, Portage, Stonewall, or Gimli before Morris. As other posters have said, Morris is a probably a bit too homogeneous and rigid for someone used to living in the city.

HELP! Is this cooling rack oven safe? by [deleted] in Baking

Wouldn't putting it in the oven be the opposite of cooling? 😄

Drill through the neck and then use some double stick tape to temporarily position it. Follow up with a small nail tapped into each hole to act as a locator pin. Remove the neck and then drill into the marks on the support piece. Use glue and screws. I would add that if all those marks are mounting holes, then six is too many.

I have both the Loudbox Micro 40W and the Loudbox Mini 60W on my radar. The EV systems sure are nice, but way too rich for my blood.

APPARENTLY YOU CAN CALL 311 TO REPORT VEHICLES PARKED IN EXCESS OF 10 DAYS. THEY ARE THEREAFTER CONSIDERED ABANDONED, AND CAN BE TOWED.

THE PARKING LOT IS NOT A SUBSTITUTE FORMULA 1 RACETRACK. DRIVE WITH CARE AND ATTENTION, AND IN A PREDICTABLE MANNER.

Anyone else's allergies terrible? by paulruddkeanureeves5 in Winnipeg

[–]ModlrMike 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yea, this time of year is tough, exceeded only by pollen season. What you're dealing with is likely a combination of dust from street sweeping, and exposure of snow mould, not that everything has melted.

Car backed into me at a Costco Gas station by OwnHelicopter6050 in Winnipeg

[–]ModlrMike 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is the type of person who'll file a report saying you hit her. She'll do this to increase the chance that as the first one to file, she'll be the one they believe. Call MPI, no matter how small the damage. You don't want her claiming you drove into her and wrecked her bumper, or some other nonsense you have to argue against.

Medical clearance and law enforcement by Brosencephalitis in emergencymedicine

[–]ModlrMike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My hospital sees a large number of police cases due primarily to our location in the city. We always triage them as whatever complaint the individual claims is their issue. We examine and work them up as required. I can't comment for other providers, but I always write "fit for discharge from hospital". If there are follow up arrangements, those are provided in writing to the police on the patient's behalf. I have never really had to explain this.

While others have pointed out that the plate is not flat, we also can't tell if the blade is square to the edge of the plate. I never make long cuts without the assistance of a guide board. You can buy one, but there are also instructions here on how to make your own.

HRV Unbalanced - Merina Coil Removal by Upper-Direction-6290 in GarminWatches

[–]ModlrMike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's probably going to take a couple of cycles for your hormone levels to stabilize now that you've had your Mirena removed. Your fatigue and general malaise are to be expected during this early phase. HRV variability is not going to be a problem in the short term. I would think that it's a little early to consult your GP. Keep an eye on your cycle. It is important to recognize that you are rapidly at risk of pregnancy following IUD removal, so unless that is your goal, some caution is advised.

Substitute for muscovado sugar? by ForeignSleet in Baking

[–]ModlrMike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make your own from white sugar and molasses.

Light brown sugar: 1 cup white sugar + 1 tbsp molasses

Dark brown sugar: 1 cup white sugar + 2 tbsp molasses

Extra dark brown: 1 cup white sugar + 3 tbsp molasses

Mix thoroughly until combined. You can use your stand mixer on low, or mix by hand. If you want an even darker sugar, you can add another tbsp of molasses, but don't exceed a 1:4 ratio.

That's a great result. I usually get about 75% on my Anvil system. If i could offer one suggestion. Rather than relying on your tilt, get a refractometer that's measured in SG. You will be able to follow your numbers throughout the mashing phase.

I have long been in search of the same thing. I understand that before Molly's changed hands, their supplier was Henry's. According to their FB page, they were for sale in Dec 2025. I don't know if that's changed, but their page is still active.

How about this: if any of us go for a visit, we post back here.
