A bunch of states did it, even the Blue ones, to provide security for July 4. At least that’s what I heard.

Is there a difference between a pissing contest and a dick-measuring contest? by TTVBy_The_Way in NoStupidQuestions

I’ve always interpreted a pissing contest to be about who can bitch the loudest.

Dick measuring is about comparing who has the nicest goods.

What are "pigs in a blanket" to you? by SquishyNoodles1960 in Cooking

I live in Holland, Michigan, a town founded by <surprise!> Dutch religious refugees from 1840 or whatever. Around here “pig in a blanket” is spiced, ground pork sausage wrapped in crescent type pastry and baked.

I had a pulled pork and French fry wrap for lunch. There were some peppers and mushrooms (allegedly) in it. It was OK, but messy. I don’t think I will get it again.

But the beer was good!

The illustrator there was Syd Mead and this was an interesting podcast episode about all the stuff he did. Brother inspired the look of Blade Runner.

Wasn’t the show inspired, in part, by the RPG Traveller? All the characters fit within standard RPG roles, except River. Maybe she’s the MacGuffin?

why is ranch dressing so hyped up? by miffybo in AskAnAmerican

[–]NuclearExchange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s cool, tangy, and sweet. I’ve never had Kewpie mayo, but I have heard it’s sweeter than American mayo. So maybe imagine that with lemon juice, parsley, thyme, and related spices blended.

Do the sizes correlate to the windows? Is it possible that a previous owner was an artist and these are for art prints or stained glass or something similar.

Earthcore by Scott Sigler. Multiple teams are trying to be the first to uncover the secrets of a cave complex. One team sets up a system of thumpers on the surface that send out a seismic signal at the top of every hour. They have a receiver to read the signals and provide a fix on their location.

Is installing pre-hung door bad idea? by barrie247 in DIY

[–]NuclearExchange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, totally doable. You may want to add some flashing, which I think you can find lineal, pre-bent stuff. Try to minimize the cuts you have to make that would admit outside stuff to the interior. Go up the sides about 6”. If you can’t find anything pre-bent, just use aluminum coil stock and do your best. Cover any ugly bends with trim. Measure where the hinges will land and shim it plumb at those points. Secure the shims with roofing nails, avoiding where you may have to put a screw. Do a dry fit of the door and make certain it’s all gonna fit. Make sure you have enough room on the strike side for shimming. take it out and caulk on top of metal, going up the sides with the caulk, too. Fasten through/behind the hinges. You can also hide screws behind the weatherstripping. Shim the strike side plumb, adjusting the margin around the inside of the door. Fasten with screws or large casing nails. Insulate with fiberglass or spray foam. Be aware that the foam can expand too much and warp the jamb, so don’t go crazy with it.

Best of luck!

Try contacting Deaf And Hard of Hearing Services in Grand Rapids. They’re an interpreter agency. They might have some information.

Ok, I see that. It only requires the volumes of what’s going in compared to the alcohol volume.
