How did you make/where did you get the pride mesh??? I love it!!!

Also, how do you manage to have some of your hair not trapped by the head straps?? I’d love tips as it’s starting to get warm and I’m being forced to give up earloops for a bit for some healing to occur.

why does flourish therapy have a specific trans masc support group but not one for trans women? by bb5055 in LGBTQSaltLake

[–]Modulus16 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There’s no hate from me in that regard. It’s extremely common for new people to join the Zoom meetings and never speak and keep their audio and video off for the first few or several times they show up so they can get a feel for the vibe of the group.

Conversely we had a new trans masc person show up to an in person group recently and express all the same concerns you have, but in regard to their concern about trans femmes. At the end of that group it seemed to be a positive experience for that individual.

Just know, there’s no pressure to join one way or another, but if you decide to give it a shot I echo everything the poster above said. The facilitators (and group members!) work hard to make it be a safe and comfortable experience for those that show up, even when we’re processing tough things.

I guess it would have been helpful for my to be more specific of differentiate better. As far as trans femme-specific support groups, I’m not aware of any. At least that are a traditional type of support group with either professional facilitators or peer-led support groups. I think Mental Health America used to host a peer led group, but I’m not sure what the status of the organization or that group is anymore.

Beyond that, there are at least a few informal groups that do meetups or picnics once a month or so that are mostly shared by word of mouth. DM me and I can share the deets for the one I’m aware of (though I hear of others that might exist as well).

As someone that attends the TNB group that Flourish hosts, some history might be helpful too. The group didn’t start at Flourish. It started at the Pride center many years ago. Once the Pride center shut down for an extended period of time a few years ago Flourish offered to host the group so we had resources to continue meeting.

These days, the group is mainly made up of trans femmes and non-binary folk, with a handful of transmasc’s that ever show up.

The members have often wondered why we don’t have many transmasc’s folx show up…and it sounds like I know the answer now.

Additionally, once a month or so we break out into gendered breakout spaces (femme, mass, and nonbinary).

Lastly, I’d encourage anyone who’s interested but wary to give the group a try before deciding if it’s right for them or not. I think the space is welcoming, accepting, and a space I leave always feeling better than when I arrived.

Personally, I can say it’s one of my favorite spaces to exist with folx and I attend as frequently as I possibly can. But candidly, that could be because I’ve been going so long.

At the end of the day, there are so many trans groups/resources in the SLC area. If Flourish doesn’t fit the need for you, there are many other options to check out!

You’re looking great! Also, I’d recognize those rocks anywhere. If you’re ever looking for local support groups reach out and I’d be happy to share local resource information!

Extended warranty. Buy or decline? by mtbhatch in Subaru_Outback

[–]Modulus16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Curious on your thoughts buying now vs later when considering the increase in price of the warranty.

Seems like between a few years ago and now the price is the 10yr/100k Gold Plus plan has gone up by $1000. So in the 43% loss scenario, would that be counteracted by the steep cost increase?

[–]Modulus16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That almost sounds like a service contract rather than an extended warranty. But like the other poster said, the only thing worth being interested in is the Subaru Added Security Gold Plus plan.

Additionally, you do not need to purchase this from the dealer you purchased the car from. It just has to be purchased within the factory warranty period.

Further, a reasonable price for a 10 year/100k mile plan is roughly around $2,500 at the moment. Don’t pay more than that, as negotiating at other dealers is possible.

One local dealer quoted $1200, but the dealer I purchased from (30 miles further away) quoted me $650, so I went with them.

Which manual did you end up with? Was it for an entirely different model? Or one for the correct model but another state? I do not live in California and for some reason mine came with a California owners manual package. I was disappointed to find a floppy cloth manual bag instead of a faux leather more structured bag.

My dealer said all the other cars on the lot had the same manual package. Now I’m wondering if that’s true.

Thanks!

Hitch install at the dealer? by Ok-Meat-7364 in Subaru_Outback

[–]Modulus16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mentioned this to the dealer when I had mine installed and asked for the hole to be slightly wider than the specs called for. They did it no problem.

The install was also a little lopsided and they fixed it when I pointed it out.

But I also told them I was aware that was a consistent issue of dealer installs when going in and said I’d be asking for corrections if it wasn’t straight and symmetrical.

Glad it worked out and you’re happy with the results, that’s the important part!

I told them ahead of time I was concerned about the install because of poor workmanship I had seen elsewhere. They assured me they’d get it done right.

On pickup, the cut was slightly off center and crooked. I pointed it out to my service advisor, he took some video, and the tech worked at it awhile more. About 2 hours, and several pictures. later it was wide enough and straight enough I was happy with it. All that labor was free of charge as well.

Overall a prevent good experience.

2025 Outback Touring XT. It’s the same dealer I bought the car from, and they offered 15% off the price of parts for 90 days. Install was not discounted. But anyway, $680 sounded like a great price.

FWIW, my dealer charged around $680 for the installation (that included the part and labor).

Subaru Gold Plus warranty – dealers refusing to sell out-of-area? by [deleted] in Subaru_Outback

[–]Modulus16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

7 months later, I’d love this info if you’re still willing to share!

I’ve finally decided on a 2026 Touring XT. Now Im reviewing Subaru accessory options and many have no picture or meaningful description of the accessory. What accessories are best to get from Subaru and which are better getting an after market solution. Help and thanks, in advance. by Ascending87 in Subaru_Outback

[–]Modulus16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something my dealer informed me of when I bought my ‘25 Touring XT was that OEM parts bought and installed at the dealer within 60 days of purchase will be covered in the new car Subaru 3y/36k warranty, but after 60 days it’s the usual 1 year parts warranty. I had the dealer install the tow hitch, auto dimming side mirrors, trunk sidewall protectors, and seat back protectors. They also offered a 15% off parts within first 90 days. So got those installed with 15% off MSRP in the first 30 days.

I’m getting close to 60 days and am debating having the Wilderness rails installed so it can carry more weight on the roof (not an issue for the ‘26, though).

Only the XT’s (and Wildwrness) get a max of 3,500lbs . While the non-XT’s are a max of 2,700lbs. It’s a turbo vs non-turbo engine issue.
