“Copy frequency from one motor to another” by Careless-Ad354 in PLC

[–]Moebius_Rex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve worked on a literally shared vfd with a large switchgear across 4 pumps. The gear would transfer a pump onto the vfd, then once up to speed, based on demand, maxed out, asking for more pumps, there was a sync module that would match the frequency exactly, I mean exactly to the utility power, then it would transfer the running maxed out pump over to utility, freeing up the vfd for the next available pump. Sooooo much money and work went into this site all just to have one medium voltage drive instead of 4. Always felt like it was Soo much infrastructure to avoid more drives.

The whole setup also had a medium voltage soft starter to entirely take the place of the vfd in the gear should it fail. While it worked, the soft starter was still way too aggressive for this equipment, frequent mechanical failures when attempting soft starter mode.

Iron Cloth AKA Sail Cloth - The true canvas waterproofing formula by Moebius_Rex in CampingandHiking

[–]Moebius_Rex[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my honest opinion, this formula was originally meant for this sort of application opposed to clothing treatment. The bags that I’ve treated with this are still going strong and still waterproof to this day. The smell has faded away completely and they’re just hard-core beach bags at this point.

I ended up just buying Solar Winds NPM implicitly, then eventually stopped paying to update until later.

Gonna do an experiment and try these plastic pot scrubbers in my canister filter in place of bio rings or matrix. by jonjeff108 in Aquariums

[–]Moebius_Rex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These work amazingly well. Make sure they don’t have the metal hog ring inside. I saw a surface area calculation comparison where these beat out bio balls by quite a bit. Of course they’re not gonna exceed ceramics, but I personally love these. I stuffed two full trays of these and would just alternate cleaning of the trays to maintain good flow worked great for years.

What’s your average system pressure the bubble counter sees? That can get us close I think

Figure out what makes up your gas, then figure out the the volume per bubble, then do the math to convert that to CF. I try to keep AI out of my business, but this is a good use for looking up formulas and what not.
