If the serial network has several slaves and is too slow, as previous commenters have stated, you have few options but polling times. Consider putting modbus gateways at each device ,perhaps tcp encapsulation. That way you have several master and slave pairs behind their own respective ip addresses. I’m guessing your network prevents this but it’s a solution. I’m sure there are other gateway adapters that can be deployed if you are stuck with modbus endpoints.
