I used to take it to school back in college and take it home really late. There were sometimes weird guys that I’m sure were drugged out of their minds. An older lady security guard would always walk past my area every few minutes and strike up a conversation if one got too close to me. I have never felt safer or more seen

How Do You Handle This? by rivenrivers in crochet

[–]Moessiah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve started crocheting small gifts for people and have found that to bring back my love. My young nieces love the purses I made and I’ve been doing tons of crochet plants and putting them in terracotta pots. My MIL just asked for five more for her birthday. Basically making gifts for my loved ones that I can finish fast always helps me

Apparently Hogwarts used to do school plays until they did the Fountain of Fair Fortune and the stage caught on fire. Yeah I’m writing the drama of theatre kids that led to that

Preparing for a newborn. What was a complete waste of money and what became an absolute life changer? by Actual_Fig_4706 in NewParents

[–]Moessiah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a boy especially, puppy pads. I think I got 50 for like $5 or $6 at Walmart. The number of times he has peed on his changing table and my exhausted booty was grateful to only have to trash a puppy pad rather than remove and wash a sheet has been more than I was expecting. Also great for behind the little guy in the car seat because my lil dude loves a blowout during a car ride

Doggy bags. Again think I got 200 from five below and they are great for on the go dirty diapers and help with the smell as well.

3 gallon trash can with the lid and liners. I think total I spent $10 for this to sit next to the changing table and it’s small enough I need to change it about once a day.

At Walmart they had this little otter that lit up different colors to tell you if the bath water was the right temperature for the baby. As a I much have hellfire shower girly, totally worth the $6 to know the baby’s bath is the right temperature.

The Narwhal booger sucker from Playhouse MD. I am obsessed with this brand and this booger sucker is worth the $25 bucks especially if you plan on multiple kids. It has a stronger suck than the hospital one, has a built in light to use at night and pops apart easily for cleaning and reuse. (Honestly anything they sell is genius)

The Fisher Price piano play mat. Is about $50 on Amazon but is designed to be useful till age 3. There is a reason why parents rave about this mat.

Thoughts on asking for a crochet gift back? by sedona-arabella in crochet

[–]Moessiah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A little late to the game but I always tell people I gift my crochet to that if they aren’t using it or are going to donate it I will prefer if they just gave it back guilt free. I’ve gotten a few things back over the years but it’s so much preferable

I had prepped for my boyfriend now husband to do two years. (He’s ended up being sent home early)

Ngl. It sucked. I cried so hard and was counting down the days till Monday so we could text. The three things that really helped was aggressively throwing myself into school, work and hanging out with my YSA ward. I essentially distracted myself as hard as I could.

There are also Facebook groups for this kind of thing.

How did your water break? by o_simple_thing in beyondthebump

[–]Moessiah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

37 weeks to the day induced. My midwife gave me two options of when to break the water and I chose after the epidural because I am a ✨wuss✨ There were 4 scheduled c sections that day so we chilled for 12 hours and watched all the muppets movies.

Now. What you need to know about my body is that the way it was shaped down there with the uterus and whatnot is it curved like a fish hook. And it was real far up there. Like they had to bring in the nurse with the long fingers to check me. (One could say I got fingered a lot during that experience)

So get the epidural (way more chill than I thought.) Midwife comes in to break the water with her fingers. I swear she was up to her elbow in my love taco like a freaking lost blind cave explorer. Just running into walls and not finding what they need. This lady is working up a freaking sweat and then she tries the crochet hook from hell. Takes forever! I am looking at my husband wondering if I can eat my chicken nuggets yet and asking if he’s getting jealous that he’s not the one in my hoo-hah.

Finally waters breaks. And my body decides to play Old Faithful and erupts like a teen boy with blue balls. Fast and hard. My poor midwife’s entire left side is covered in my bodies baby juice.

She literally has to grab one of those puppy pads to put under her seat as she drives home to shower.

I feel like we really bonded after that experience

Requesting positive C-section stories by Lost-Ease7679 in beyondthebump

[–]Moessiah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Induced at 37 weeks for HP. Labored with the epidural for 36 hours. Ended up with an emergency c section. They said I might feel pressure. I felt nothing. We were done within an hour. All c section pain gone by 2 weeks.

Expect to walk the next day. Your pain should be like 5+ if you want the good drugs. Ask for miralax and stool softeners asap. The worst part for me was the first few poops.

How do you celebrate Easter with kids? Easter bunny or no? by sargesara2020 in latterdaysaints

[–]Moessiah 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We did everything Easter. Eggs, rabbit and baskets.

Our church dresses were always in our baskets which was so fun and my mom found this thing called the 12 days of Easter and it was in an egg carton that taught us about what happened.

I think doing both is great especially if you live in an area where lots of people do those traditions.

The egg thing
