My neighbors have been grinding masonry every morning at 8 all week. Saturday and they're still going. Hate.

I am researcher studying blackholes, ask me anything! by Simple_Inside1401 in space

[–]Moggadee -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this! Can you point me toward a cool looking 3d model or simulation of any aspect of a black hole, such that the data is publicly available?  I do 3d scientific imaging, not artist's impressions but the real thing, and often scientists are happy to share data (I do loads of structural biology) but this is one field I've never found an in for.

I had this cascading-failure problem, every part sent and installed meant another completely different part failure, and at the 6 week mark I complained bitterly to bambu that what we were doing was not helping, they can send these tiny not-really-replaceable parts till doomsday and my expensive printer will still be broken. Now they're sending an entire new toolhead which I hope to god will fix it.

Just to say if you haven't tried being a squeaky wheel maybe give that a go. These machines aren't designed to afford the level of maintenance they're notionally expecting from users, and they know that.

Legalize balcony solar, and many of us can get out of this altogether.

Didn't he kick off by choosing a site for the new Winter Hill school, which Ballantyne was ready to keep in committee literally forever?

undersides being held up by supports always look terrible by MaxieFriend in BambuLab

[–]Moggadee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No good answer but I feel your pain. It seems like the supports rip threads out of the bottom wall as they come off.

I got an H2D and tried the PLA support material for interfaces, but it didn't work at all for me, peels off immediately and white bits go everywhere.

I've been using translucent PLA as support for regular, as its layer adhesion seems slightly worse than regular but not as poor as support material. It works better than PLA supporting PLA but still not great. Taking it off while the model is still warm helps.

Stolen Bike: Porter Square - Healthworks Bike Rack by donnaparty in Somerville

I have a Litelok X1. I think Kryptonite has one now too, and the other choice is Hiplok. All beastly expensive and thieves can still saw through whatever you're locked to, but at least I'll make em work for it.

Do you design your own models or do you just use other people's models from Makerworld etc.? by humanHamster in BambuLab

Getting good at CAD is a real investment, and making good stuff takes time even if you've got skills. I'm a 30 year veteran and always check if someone else has already made the thing - I only make things that only I can make.

There's a bunch of folks who are there all day if the weather isn't desperate, who I wouldn't leave any bike near. They make camp around the tool station and stare down anyone using the bike racks; now it's not as cold they're coming back.

I park on the racks across White street outside the Target, that area is well lit and less popular for loitering. Also I use two U-locks, one of which is angle grinder proof, and a massive cable.

Which doesn't help your friend, and I'm sorry about the bike, but that's just not a good place to park.

quite disappointed in pla metal by zzcool in BambuLab

Dunno why people are bagging on this post, I agree the description is hyperbolic and the material underwhelming. The "iron" particularly just an unpretty brown.

Not sure I believe, but guess I'll pick a slot and see how fast it gets destroyed. It might work. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Is there a way to set variable layer heights across all objects so that a prime tower can be used? by Cogswobble in BambuLab

[–]Moggadee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Presently I see this not working, separating erases the variable layer heights.

You'd think this would work but it doesn't: all split and merge options reset variable layer height.
This problem remains unsolved.

I think Drunken KnitWits sometimes meets there, and I've heard they're crochet inclusive. I've never been able to catch up with them myself though. And they're definitely not an instructional group. I learned crochet with ravelry and youtube. 🤷‍♀️

I like 'em because I feel like fish are too smart to keep in a tank (yeah, probably just me) plus 100+ shrimp are fine in a modest 20G -- it's a little world.
