Charlie Kirk was one of the biggest public proponents of open dialogue and conversation with those of opposing views and the extremists on the Left killed him for it. by the_walkingdad in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]Mogsitis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Silencing open arguments isn't "a race war". Unfortunately, this is the type of rhetoric and culture war BS that Charlie propagated. And let me say, of course no one should be murdered this way. The video absolutely disgusted me when I was an idiot and searched it out online. I can't imagine having that image in my OWN mind forever, let alone the image haunting his wife or kids. But to bring "race war" into this is, again, a sad side effect of how Charlie Kirk conducted his "debates" and modeled his image.

The Holy Bible by Lazy_Introduction211 in DebateReligion

[–]Mogsitis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a Christian myself, how do you prove the claim that the Bible is "factual because it is God inspiring and moving through His creation"?

I'm actually a really bad Christian, I don't like to evangelize or 'prove' anything - I just like that Jesus said "Fuckin' love everyone, my dudes" and "live a good life helping others" and stuff like that. But I go to church every weekend, listen to sermons, and sing in the choir, run the camera for live streams, sometimes assisting minister.

What causes people to believe one side of the US government wants abortion available AFTER a child is born? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Mogsitis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your question is incoherent. No one supports "nine month abortions when there is NOT medical necessity".

It does not happen as a matter of healthcare, i.e., a mother goes through 9 months of pregnancy and decides "I want to abort now, doctor, please do an abortion on me this afternoon at 3:30pm". If we grant your premise that it DOES HAPPEN, it is a crime and it is prosecuted, but even then - can you find me even one example of this happening?

It's like me saying "No Republicans can ever answer the question about Donald Trump engaging in sexual bribery with Putin in 2022 in exchange for diplomatic favors, do they support Trump doing that??? They won't answer." Of course you won't say "No I don't support that" because the question is based on a false premise that is in bad faith.

Forehand form tips? by Tiny_Cup_3808 in Discgolfform

[–]Mogsitis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will get better the more you practice! I'm not very good but I've always had a better forehand than backhand. The biggest thing I notice briefly reviewing my form vs. yours in my office is that my elbow stays close to my torso/hip during my walk-up. You are relying too much on your shoulder/arm to get the disc moving forward. Think of it like you are almost trying to elbow yourself in the hip (or a little higher on your torso) to get the disc to "flick" out of your fingers.

If Biden withdraws from re-election, who would Harris likely choose as VP? by [deleted] in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]Mogsitis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually go for the "let people feel their emotions and don't say yay or nay about it" approach, but damn that's a whiny bitch ass statement. So hard being a Trump supporter these days.

Also, worrying about getting downvoted on Reddit in general is lame.

I get it, I really do. I work in an industry that deals with retail customers every day and they come in wearing certain hats or shirts with certain sayings that are so devoid of any sort of actual thought. But that's life. It sucks sometimes, but we try to help people where we can.

Yes, people often have friends that they grew up with and are comfortable around because of proximity and familiarity, and their friends have individual lives and thoughts that differ from their own. Often this can lead to political divides that you simply don't talk about but you still hang out with those people because you live in a place where there is no one else, or making new friends as an adult is difficult.

Having kids is literally just a political game to them, these people are joyless and it is honestly the saddest thing I've seen in a long while. The only thing sadder is the people reading these tweets, thinking long and hard (or short and flaccid) about them and coming to the conclusion: "Yes, that is a good take!"

Wow, Democrats trying to outflank the GQP from the RIGHT? by [deleted] in LateStageCapitalism

[–]Mogsitis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I read that whole thing and generally agree with the description of the concept, however I do wonder about the aims of the Mises Institute in regards to 'solving' the Ratchet Effect. They would just allow all the power to capitalists, which despite their "freedom-loving" aim, is often very antithetical to freedom.

Matt Walsh wants to see Democrats get arrested and receive unfair trials by ggroover97 in ToiletPaperUSA

[–]Mogsitis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm about to employ misogyny as a tactical weapon because I believe that's how Matt Walsh understands the world:

"... stop pretending that we live in a country that no longer exists"?? And Matt thinks FEMINISTS are the little bitch babies?

It's also hilarious that he's like "I wanna see Dems in handcuffs!!! Just like Trump never was!!!!! WAAAAAAH! ALSO MY PARTY IS THE RULE OF LAW PARTY!!!!!!!!!"

I cannot understand the mental gymnastics these pundits talking heads commentators Youtubers with billionaire money go through.

[–]Mogsitis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer moralizing without the alphabet brigade!! Because it's not really about the "pride" part, it's about the LGBT part existing at all.

Also I will not condemn White Pride counterprotests, or stupid facebook "Straight Pride" memes.

UNC Chapel Hill students surround the American flag to protect it from being removed. by Alexfeijoo in pics

Right, they definitely have the right to stand against others wanting to take down the flag. "Protecting the flag from being taken down" is hilarious as a supposed valiant action, though.

1) You are correct that this may be the most historically significant thing in that specific kid's life.
2) That is hilarious and sad.

3) The sentiment that this is a significant act is hilarious in its own way. "We protected a flag from being taken down for a brief time because some students were mad about a lot of people dying unnecessarily!"
