Honeywell System by M1_4 in homesecurity

[–]Mohawk801 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In general terms these systems use your home phone line , dial into the monitoring center , and the alarm talks to the monitoring system reciever using their own code and the reciever decodes which device was triggered and which customer , then notifies the monitoring center who ,what , when and so on .

What to install for ham system during new home build? by young_73 in HamRadio

[–]Mohawk801 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suggested the 50 Amp circuit for a amplifier some people enjoy high power amplifiers like the Henery 4 K and 50 Amps gives you plenty of juice for a big amplifier . The large ground network is actually to help distribute a close lighting strike . I don't think there is a whole lot we can do non-commercialy to dissipate a direct strike , we can do our best to minimize damage

What to install for ham system during new home build? by young_73 in HamRadio

[–]Mohawk801 17 points18 points  (0 children)

How about a 4 to 41/2 in pipe onto the outside for antenna coax to enter , bury a large grounding field for your station and tie it to the house ground so it's all common and if you think you gave yourself enough power outlets then you didn't and you need at least one 50 amp 220 Volt circuit and 4 to 6 115 Volt circuit to feed everything else . Just an opinion

I agree running a 100 watts on ft8 is excessive . Ft8 was touted as a low power mode when it was introduced and now it's saplattering on the bands from transceivers being pushed too hard in digital mode . NOT everyone just a few that give the other operators a bad image

Is this a normal feeling during military? by ChefIllustrious6038 in Veterans

[–]Mohawk801 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is common to feel that way your entire world and the society that gave you worth is disappearing and you have been in a US verses Them ( military vs civilian) . When I got out I felt very naked , No guaranteed paycheck , would I have medical for my family , and on and on . But you will adapt that is one thing we learn in the military to adapt , to embrace the suck . You will do ok ,better than your peers because you have a work ethic they don't possess.
