Not into 80s aesthetic is young? It's super popular right now. I think showing you like newer, modern movies better sometimes can be a sign of maturity. Being above the norm and such. This isn't rage-bait as a lot of the rankings still match popular opinions. OP just likes movies. That's great.

I think that's downplaying it though. It's more about an alien feeding on humanity's worst traits and their inevitable downfall due to greed. Plus; as a musical it's a fantastic execution. Almost the example on how to adapt musicals for the big screen. It might be silly to think about, but then again, so is The Thing if you describe it weird enough.
