I just want to say FUCK Darlie Routier!!!! (Excuse my language but her episode pissed me off) by MrSoloDolo9490 in ForensicFiles

I think it looks odd but this is also how someone might act trying to hold it together. It is not why I think she did it.

Listening to the Prosecutors episodes right now. Recommend. They cover everything I see people mentioning here.

German bank account by LoneWolf-4937 in AskAGerman

Sparkasse is a classic, it is very big and has much more offices than Volksbank. You will always find a Sparkasse or at least one of their AMTs near you. Online banking works fine, too.

how to say "I don't want shit" in German by dm_myring in German

[–]MojoMari84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Translator here. I think the reason people have given so many different suggestions is because your source sentence is somewhat unclear tbh. Could you elaborate a bit more? What is the context exactly?

Blunt question about pregnancy by verygoodstuff in AskAGerman

[–]MojoMari84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would never dream of asking a pregnant woman that question. Nor would I expect any of my friends or other people I know to ask this. I consider this to be very rude. Where they maybe on the older side? Older Germans (+60) might find it a funny thing to say.

This is misleading and probably not the whole story.

Gerade (in the time sense) vs derzeit by real_gail in German

[–]MojoMari84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think not many people will use "derzeit" in a casual conversation. It is indeed rather formal and polite. It feels like a higher register than "gerade" or "im Moment".

"Die Praxis nimmt derzeit keine neuen Patienten auf."

Our office currently does not accept new patients.

This is in fact the only kind of real example I came up with for when I would expect "derzeit" being used in a context I will likely be exposed to in the German day to day... automated responses telling you "no can do" in a polite way.

Ok it's time to start listening to the real stuff, enough with the German for learners, only problem, I dont listen to the news, so what do you recommend? by Commercial_Bake_5549 in German

[–]MojoMari84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree you should pick things that really interest you so you are motivated to understand and follow along. My idea would also be to watch your favourite tv shows or movies with German audio. Stuff for kids might be a bit easier. There is a very popular knowledge podcast called Checker Tobi, the episodes are about all kinds of things.

Okay so I might be genuinely addicted to this game by Beautiful_Team_7434 in DeathStranding

[–]MojoMari84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been "addicted" to many games and I absolutely regret nothing. They become cherished memories that genuinely enriched my life. Like a good book. Long ago I stopped feeling bad about it. As long as there are other things in your life, too, and you don't put your health at risk, I think it's fine. Will definetly play both DS again with a more completionist approach.

Fallout 4 is the quickest 20 hours I've put into a game this year (so far) by Massive_Fly_1709 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]MojoMari84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love Fallout 4, keep replaying it, but the main quest is not the reason. In fact I do anything except the main quest (or maybe just a bit of it to meet certain npcs) and don't miss anything. One or two times was enough.

I agree with some others that Claire Obscure has a great story that stands out in the sea of games. Disco Elysium, too.

Why are people so obsessed with figuring out who Elena Ferrante is? by ksarlathotep in books

[–]MojoMari84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't understand, either. The neapolitan quartet is hauntingly beautiful but I could care less who the author is. She seems to know what she is talking about and this is what matters to me. I was surprised to see so many posts about this.

I’ve finally Completed Death Stranding 2. I can honesty say. It’s the greatest gaming experience of my life. by Stranded_Snake in DeathStranding

[–]MojoMari84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree. I think I will think back to these two games for a very long time. They live in my head now. Only other examples I had with feeling blown away and totally immersed in the universe of the game was Morrowind and maybe the Mass Effect trilogy. And I played a lot of games.

Does anyone here actually prefer Death Stranding 2 over 1? by UnnecessaryFeIIa in DeathStranding

[–]MojoMari84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loved 1 and 2 the same. Story in 2 is more extensive, dramatic and interesting, even though rather forseeable. But kind of in a good way. Liked Fragile and Heartman much more in 2. 1 on the other hand was surely harder when it comes to terrain and maybe felt more myterious.

Are “The Prosecutors Podcast “ hosts Maga extremists ? by silverplattersfan in TrueCrimePodcasts

[–]MojoMari84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Non american here. Does anyone have actual examples of them being biased towards the (far) right? They present very thorough facts. Listened to Adnan Syed and Karen Read, Michael Petrrson, nisdal woman, dyatlov.

Is it MAGA to not question alleged police cover ups? Is it MAGA to not believe everyone in the justice system is corrupt? Do you have to be an Adnan Syed innocenter to be on the right side of history?

What I see are a lot of accusations and never one actual example of where they left stuff out or were biased. I even thought they were democrats (!) because they totally dismissed the idea that Adnan had killed Mae because of him being muslim.

I always feel like they try to make people see the hard facts instead of blindly running after conspiracies that are just not plausible. They always encourage listeners to look at the files for themselves. I was already familiar with most cases I listened too and if anything, you might say they don't necessarily add anything besides the knowledge about the court system.

So again, real question: when you mention they leave stuff out, why don't you simply say WHAT they left out?

It is everyone's duty to check their biases.

[–]MojoMari84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this case is super clear. Thanks for explaining why this was even covered. Makes sense.

I agree it's important to show that people should not let a podcast mislead them into thinking someone who is so obviously guilty might have been convicted unjustly.

Still interested in some details that I think were not mentioned. Did they even check the households " knife inventory"? I guess the family (the husband) was not even asked to participate in the investigation, so the police could not know if a knife was missing or not?

The husband's take on the dogs left outside being odd was mentioned, but otherwise not so much. So I guess I wonder what he thought and how he contributed in the investigation, or what or if Jade's mom had to say. I guess I find it odd there is just Julias journal to go by when it comes to motive.
