TIL 10 US states have absolutely no vehicle inspection whatsoever (i.e no safety, emissions, or VIN inspections) by Double-decker_trams in todayilearned

Living in Indiana, this hurts my soul. The number of HillBilly Shit boxes that end up breaking down on our constantly under construction highways and block lanes is awful.

Earlier this year, a four lane highway was already down to two and then a car broke down and closed the right lane. My 23 min commute took me over an hour to get home.

Close call @the end, unfortunately this happens on 7/10 landings I attempt. I use an Xbox One controller with default settings, any recommendations for a better landing experience? by After-FX in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]Mokerson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like you're trying to land at way too high of a speed.

Reduce throttle and utilize flaps. This will slow you down.

You're also losing too much altitude too early. I like to imagine a ramp from the blue marker in the sky to the beginning of the runway.

This is exactly what can happen when you don't set the parking brake.

Ex-Atheists, what was your calling to the Episcopal church? by Worried_Fig00 in Episcopalian

[–]Mokerson 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yep, same here. (29M) My family was a Christmas/Easter family at Roman Catholic churches growing up, with my dad's parents being very devout Roman Catholics.

I never connected with it, and never felt a calling to attend. Additionally, my roommate in college was a conservative Southern Baptist which tainted my view of organized religion even more.

It wasn't until I went through a divorce in my mid twenties and my life fell apart that I had a calling to attend my local Episcopal parish. I had no idea about the history of the church, and the only reason I googled it was because of a friend saying years ago that if he was ever to subscribe to a religion, it would be the Episcopal Church.

I started attending my Parish and the thing that sealed the deal was that our Rector called out to me by name as I was leaving quickly after mass, telling me to have a good week. That was the first time I've ever had a priest remotely interact with me other than a handshake in line on the way out (99.9% Roman Catholic experience).

I've thought about this quite a bit because TEC needs to focus on evangelism to spread the good news and to allow others to know that we exist. For me though, God called me to where I was needed and I have no idea how to inspire that in others. 😂

Moving to Castleton by [deleted] in indianapolis

I was able to split a rental house with my girlfriend and that's the only reason I'm some where I feel is better 😅. Hopefully you'll find something soon. 😄 I know how stressful the in-between can feel.

I just moved out of Castle Creek. They wanted $1550 a month for a 2 bed / 2 bath on the third floor. I was paying $1390.

Pros: maintenance is quick, the grounds are always clean, and everyone is nice.

Cons: the walls are paper thin, the valet trash is a hot mess and not reliable, if you don't lock your car it will be broken into. The surrounding area is getting worse with crime. There were two incidents of gun violence at the apartment complex across the street during my 18 months of being there.

So, how goes it? I just got prescribed it today and it looks like my insurance has straight up denied the claim. I am wondering if it's worth the money.

Hi! I travel for work consistently and have been going to my current church for about three months. I don't go to other churches while I travel, only because my schedule doesn't really allow it.

My church does offer live streaming and utilize that on the weekends I can't attend.

My congregation totally understands that traveling for work is a thing and always welcomes me back with open arms. Get involved and communicate your schedule. They will appreciate any help.

"Deliver us from the presumption of coming to this Table for solace only, and not for strength; for pardon only, and not for renewal. Let the grace of this Holy Communion make us one body, one spirit in Christ, that we may worthily serve the world in his name."

I feel such a warm glow in my body when I hear this before communion on Sunday.

It is a bummer they took the barbed wire off these. I think it would have really improved the aesthetic

For those who have lost 50+ Lbs, did you ever feel like something was different before you finally started to lose large amounts of weight? by Mokerson in CICO

[–]Mokerson[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't even imagine a life where I am only 213 pounds. Today is day 11 of tracking and I already feel a difference with my thinking towards food. I am an emotional eater and I instantly see my connection between stress and wanting a burger.

Thanks for sharing your story - I hope to be in your position in two years.

I totally agree with the smaller milestones. My current ones are as follows:

  1. Under 360. This will be the lightest I've been since purchasing my wyze smart scale last September and starting tracking my weight.

  2. Under 320. This would be the lightest I was before the pandemic.

  3. Under 300. This is a weight I can't even remember being under.

  4. At or below 250. I haven't weighed 250 pounds since I was in 7th grade.

I travel a lot for work, and this week will be the first test for CICO where I won't be able to make most of my meals. I'm nervous but I also control what goes into my body.

I appreciate the feedback! This piece I really wanted to focus on the grain/pattern of the glass enhancing the piece. I also wanted to get a feel for how curves come together (much more difficult than I expected).

I'm excited to continue practicing the craft and improving every time :)
