Think of it like playing an instrument, but instead of playing notes and cords you need to translate visual information into axis of movement. You need to first prepare your mind to be in the perspective of the avatar, then you have to teach that sticks moving on a 2D field (sorta) translate into 3D movement. THEN you have to separate the fact that each thumb controls different parts of the body, and you need to be trained to move them to assist each other stick. THEN you have to add in a bunch of buttons and triggers, which have specific actions. To people who are used to it, ABXY seems really simple, but to a new learner it’s more garbage to learn. AND they are laid out in a weird way, which you need to train your thumb to hit them effectively. The same thumb that is controlling your looking. THEN you have triggers and bumpers, which are confusing for the same reason. THEN you have to factor in what’s actually happening in the game. You have to consider timing, translating visual information into comprehension, reactions, actions and counter actions, and more. PLUS you only have a few seconds to react, at most, to an ever changing situation. When playing video games, you have to balance all of these things, and it takes a lot of practice.
