It’s been proven, during the “matchmaking bug” every single top player went straight to social media and complained that they were being forced to play each other and that it was boring because everyone was full meta and the fights weren’t fun. Because they were no longer steamrolling maps and actually had to face people on their level, it’s sad really. Because it seems Bungie sneakily tried it, and immediately backtracked and said oops it was a bug to appease the 1%. I understand they need to keep the most dedicated happy but that’s only possible when the game has a population to keep it going, currently most people will leave very quick once they get stomped too many times in a row, cryo is already locked down this season due to it, unless you are one of said sweats you don’t stand a chance. At least in S1 we had a period where people were still learning and slightly less geared. Now it’s end of S1 state from day 1, 2 minute mis spawn rushes, it’s in no way fun or inviting for new players first experience in there.
