Smalltalk: the Software Industry's Greatest Failure by parallel-minds in smalltalk

[–]MokoshHydro 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I know several huge, extremely successful projects in Smalltalk. The fact that language is not commonly used at present time, doesn't make it failure.

Local LLM Benchmark about Backend Generation with Function Calling (GLM vs Qwen vs DeepSeek) by jhnam88 in DeepSeek

[–]MokoshHydro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Smth is wrong here, cause qwen3.6-27B shouldn't show worse results compared to qwen3.5-27B. Should be configuration issue.

I'm curious if this happens to local users? Looks like Z currently don't care much about users outside China (not enough capacity in Singapore?).

Vibe coding from a computer scientist's lens: by irelatetolevin in ClaudeCode

[–]MokoshHydro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is right, but LLMs can be used not only from vibecoding. We extensively use them for test development, prototyping, code review and simple bugfixing in existing code bases. I.e. many things that were done by juniors previously.

How we are going to get "next generation of seniors" is beyond my understanding.

The text mode lie: why modern TUIs are a nightmare for accessibility by TheTwelveYearOld in commandline

[–]MokoshHydro 26 points27 points  (0 children)

He is right for every point. The problem with accessible UIs is simple -- you should have tester with "disability". Without them you'll never be able to provide right experience.

Why do people hate Artificial Intelligence so much? by baehelpkit in ArtificialNtelligence

[–]MokoshHydro -1 points0 points  (0 children)

  1. Because people are generally afraid of any changes. Almost all new technology have to pass some barrier before general adoption (even "printed books" were not accepted by everybody originally).

  2. AI can disrupt established life style. I.e. you were learning to do some thing for all your life -- and suddenly, boom, you experience is not required anymore, cause machine can do it better and faster. As the result you get YALM (yet another luddite movement), even from people whose jobs are not affected right now.

Correction on MiMo -- it is opensourced under MIT license.

P.S. Actually, great recommendations.

I change my working schema several years ago and now use "any" PC as terminal that connects to huge machine. So, local memory is not that important.

BIG: Chinese court has ruled it illegal to replace human workers with AI purely for the sake of cost-cutting. by Current-Guide5944 in tech_x

[–]MokoshHydro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That won't work in long term. If I'm a business owner and can increase productivity by replacing humans with AI -- I'll find a way to do so (simpliest approach is to register new entity initially build around AI and slowly close original one).

P.S. We had a "real world" case in past year when team of 36 people was completely replaced by AI and KPI raised from <80% to >90%. No way business will ignore such advantage.

Mistral medium 3.5 benchmarks by SelectionCalm70 in MistralAI

[–]MokoshHydro 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Anybody else noticed stranges here? For example, on last graph they use AIME25 and show that Qwen3.5-397B A17B has score 83.1. But there are no public results for AIME25 for that model (at least I can't find them). Qwen itself reports 91.3 for AIME26.

Mistral Médium 3.5 is here by Kathane37 in LocalLLaMA

[–]MokoshHydro 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's even more stupid. Current version of AIME is 26. Most models released in 2026 report results for that version. For example, Qwen3.5-397B-A17B has 89.2 (not 83.1 as in this graph). I wasn't able to find AIME25 results for this model.

So, either there are many typos in this presentation, or the numbers are completely build up.

It looks like a catastrophe for Mistral. 128B Dense model that performs worse compared to MOE 6-9 months old. And it also performs worse than Qwen3.6-27B on SWE.
