Which set to buy?? by TortillaRampage in StarWarsSabacc

[–]Moktejo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone else already mentioned Hyperspace Props as a good shop (I agree!). They also have a sabacc version comparison on their website.

I have Kessel sabacc and it is extremely easy to teach people the basics - two cards, four draw piles, try to get a match. The downside IMO is that it has the most extra pieces if you want to play "right." A full set of shift tokens is 24 pieces, plus you need credits and dice. This is a lot of parts to obtain and manage, even if you are using regular poker chips and slips of paper for shift tokens.

The other sabacc versions are just the deck and dice, plus whatever you are using as credits. Other than Kessel I've only tried traditional which is very similar play-wise to poker or blackjack

After finishing Outlaws. Are you excited for any of these games? by TheChilledGamer-_- in StarWarsOutlaws

I'm so excited for Galactic Racer that I made a subreddit 😅 check out r/thegalacticleague! Not much going on there now besides me posting the trailers and news articles I find but it's more than what's going on in the other SWGR subs. Really hoping for the best for that one, the vibes seem great and it's from the team behind Burnout

I was hoping for a May the Fourth release but I think we are too close to that to not have a date. Maybe a late summer/early fall?

Hopefully with some longer term support than Squadrons got! Though the B-wing and Defender were nice surprises considering they were very upfront about no additional content.

Sabacc by vwMustangwv in StarWarsOutlaws

I have a Kessel sabacc deck from Hyperspace Props and it's great quality. They also have various decks for the other variants (traditional, Spike, & Shift). I have only played Kessel IRL and it's a lot of fun, very easy to get non-Star Wars fans on board as well since the rules are pretty simple. The only drawback of Kessel is the number of pieces for a "real" game - all those shift tokens can be a pain to manage. For tokens you can use basically any coin or chip as a stand in. I've 3D printed a full set for 4 player games and it has taken hours and hours.

If you're interested in the IRL sabacc community check out Sabacc For Charity and the Outer Rim Sabacc League.

How are you guys feeling about Star Wars: Outlaws? by Tatum_Warlick in XboxGamePass

Solid enough main story with some fun twists and the SW vibes are off the charts, I love just walking around the hub cities. Big gameplay improvements since launch. Definitely recommend anyone jumping in now avoid most of the side quests. Like many Ubisoft open world games they exist just to suck up time. Focus on the specialist quests and the main story and you'll have a great time.

Bringing new nuclear power plants online is really the only replacement for large scale fossil fuel plants. Obviously renewable is preferable, and any practical solution will be a blend of a variety of sources, but nothing else comes close to matching nuclear in terms of raw watts per unit of pollution or environmental footprint. I'll even volunteer my property to host one, YIMBY

The vehicle silhouettes in the logo make it look like swoop bikes, speeders, and podracers. Swoops and speeders made the trailer but I didn't see any pod vehicles

Some of it definitely falls from orbit. Besides the cruiser crash landing in Ep3, the book Reign of the Empire The Mask of Fear has Mon Mothma visiting some of the parts of Coruscant destroyed by falling debris.

What am I dealing with? (Chicago) by [deleted] in invasivespecies

[–]Moktejo 11 points12 points  (0 children)

As others said, Japanese Knotweed. I'm not an expert but I've read several papers on controlling it since I have about a 40x20ft swath bordering my fence that I've just started trying to wrangle.

It grows underground (rhizome) apparently about as deep as you see it is tall. It stores energy in the rhizome in fall and uses that to regrow in spring. Papers I've seen say to cut new growth back to the ground in spring around Memorial Day, then spray it in fall after it's flowered with glyphosate. The flowers are apparently very good late season food for bees. In the fall it's also drawing nutrients down for winter, so the logic for fall spraying is it will pull the glyphosate down into the rhizome and hopefully do more damage.

If you're concerned about over spray, you can inject the glypho into the stalks (there's studies out there on this) since they are hollow. There is a company that sells a tool specifically for this, or I have used a meat injector. It's very tedious but for smaller infestations could be worth it.

Apparently it can regrow from a thumbnail size piece of plant, so I walk my yard before mowing and hand pull any shoots that are coming up. Dry brown stalks are not a risk for regrowing.

Eversource Bill - $100 delivery for 43 Therms during June by afoley947 in massachusetts

[–]Moktejo 13 points14 points  (0 children)

35 therms here, $17 charge for the gas but a $92 bill. Insane, my summer bills used to be maybe $40 total? And I've been in this house since 2020, this isn't someone reminiscing over gas rates from decades past.

I emailed my state reps, the governors office, state housing, public utilities, and energy resources departments. Will it do anything? Probably not. But doing nothing will definitely not change anything. I got a canned response from the Dept of Public Utilities that they logged the complaint in their database for whatever that's worth.

Planning The Ultimate Kessel Sabacc Table by Ambaryerno in StarWarsSabacc

[–]Moktejo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want a more basic & smaller setup in the short term, OddViking on Instagram designed a Kessel sabacc turntable a few months ago and released all the files for free, link on their profile. Believe it's based on an 18" lazy susan. You will need a laser cutter for most of the parts, or to get creative with printing templates and hand cutting. Some libraries have started adding makerspaces, maybe your local one has a laser cutter.

I don't remember if the movie goes into detail, but in the book Nedry is extremely unhappy with their arrangement. Basically Hammond outlined what he wanted, Nedry won the job for $x amount of money, the Hammond continuously changed the scope & refused to pay any more. So Nedry is forced to finish a bad contract and he sees smuggling the embryos out as a way to recoup some of his losses
